Front Row @ Rodarte Fall 2019

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features Front Row @ Rodarte Fall 2019

The Rodarte Fall 2019 show at the Huntington Library in Pasadena, California on Tuesday (February 5) was a delight of ruffles, lace and sheer details.

Rowan Blanchard: ‘The Girl Meets World’ actress showed off her developed sense of style in a Spring 2019 dress with APM Monaco jewels and Nicholas Kirkwood ‘Mira Pearl’ sandals. It oozed princess romance, but not in the typical manner.

Brie Larson: The ‘Captain Marvel’ actress was all wrapped up in a frothy Spring 2019 dress. The silk tie echoes the daintier bows on the neckline for a charming finish.

Tracee Ellis Ross: Never one to miss the chance to fully commit to a look, the actress was working her Spring 2019 outfit with all its lacy ruffles. The coordinating shoes were less jarring than the runway version.

2019 Directors Guild Of America Awards

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features 2019 Directors Guild Of America Awards

Lovely ladies joined Marina de Tavira and Helen Mirren at the 2019 DGA Awards on Saturday (February 2) in Hollywood, California.

Sarah Paulson: The ‘Ocean’s 8’ actress shimmered in a metallic Miu Miu gown. The cut-out silhouette and inky black accessories – including Jimmy Choo’s ‘Helix’ pumps – helped remove any disco connotations.

Yalitza Aparicio: The ‘Roma’ actress projected a dreamy mood in pastel Delpozo Spring 2019. It’s a sweet look, but bolder colours would have done wonders for her complexion.

Constance Wu: She has been on an experimental streak and this twinkling Miu Miu gown plays into that. Between the choker and feathers, it might be a hard sell. There’s an interesting witchy mood to it, but the pooling hem brings it down.

WSJ Talents and Legends Dinner Honoring Lucas Hedges

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features WSJ Talents and Legends Dinner Honoring Lucas Hedges

Many turned up to show their support at the WSJ Talents and Legends Dinner which honored Lucas Hedges on Tuesday (January 28) in Beverly Hills, California. They were clad in head to toe Salvatore Ferragamo. Celebrities joined Julia Roberts.

Lucas Hedges: The man of the hour looked polished in a slim navy suit with brown shoes and a camel sweater. It would have been nice to see more colour around his face but this combination in of itself is still sharp.

Kathryn Newton: The ‘Blockers’ actress oozed sophistication in a belted cognac coat and mustard trousers. It has retro flare without looking dated.

Stephan James: The ‘If Beale Street Could Talk’ actor continued to show his personal style by layering a sheeny navy coat on top of beige separates. The embroidered loafers kicked it up a notch. Yes, it’s summery, but the event was in California.

Elsie Fisher In Thom Browne – 2019 Critics’ Choice Awards

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features Elsie Fisher In Thom Browne - 2019 Critics' Choice Awards

Like Constance Wu, I much preferred Elsie Fisher’s 2019 Critics’ Choice Awards look over her Golden Globes look.

The young star – who picked up the Best Young Actor/Actress for ‘Eighth Grade’ – took to the blue carpet on Sunday (January 13) in Santa Monica, California, wearing a Thom Browne Pre-Fall 2019 suit.

Accented with a mini bows, her signature suited and mini top-handle bag look was oozing but plenty of charm and sartorial elegance.

Her Globes look feels quite casual in comparison. Do you agree?

Elsie Fisher In M Missoni & A.L.C., Dorothee Schumacher – 2019 New York Film Critics Circle Awards & National Board Of Review Gala

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features Elsie Fisher In M Missoni & A.L.C., Dorothee Schumacher - 2018 New York Film Critics Circle Awards & National Board Of Review Gala

Elsie Fisher has been busy. After attending the 2019 Golden Globes Awards, she was at the 2019 New York Film Critics Circle Awards on Monday (January 7) followed by the National Board Of Review Gala on Tuesday (January 8).

2019 New York Film Critics Circle Awards: Joining Naomi Watts, the 15-year-old made a playful statement in a M Missoni Resort 2019 jumpsuit with A.L.C. coat. The textured topper adds to the pink mix while helping to make the style more seasonally appropriate. The white boots were a fresh choice.

National Board Of Review Gala: The ‘Eighth Grade’ actress experimented with tailoring and western footwear once again. This time she wore a patterned Dorothee Schumacher suit with Frye boots and a Kate Spade New York bag. The accessories add greater fun to the style and help counteract the severeness of the black top.

The BAFTA Los Angeles Tea Party Red Carpet Roundup

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features The BAFTA Los Angeles Tea Party

It was a jam-packed red carpet at The BAFTA Los Angeles Tea Party on Saturday (January 5) in Los Angeles, California, with 18 more more ladies joining Thandie Newton,  Emma StoneKiki LayneGemma Chan and Laura Harrier.

Emily Blunt: I was at first swept away by the beautiful Oscar de la Renta Pre Fall 2019 tulle polka dot dress, then I fell more in love with this look when I got to the yellow sandals.

Rachel Brosnahan: The colour of this weekend for Rachel was yellow. You were slightly underwhelmed by her Golden Globes offering, so how does this Christian Siriano Spring 2019 embellished sheath fare? The look was beautifully styled with yellow and gold Malone Souliers ‘Maureen’ pumps.

Rosamund Pike: It looks like the Pike x Givenchy union has a lot more to offer, and you’ll find me complaining following her Golden Globes outing and this flouncy Spring 2019 asymmetric dress. The only thing missing from this union is some colour every once in a while, as I’m worried this might hit a Rooney Mara “always black” brick wall. Pierre Hardy ‘Gena’ sandals completed her look.

Elsie Fisher In Kenzo – 2019 Golden Globe Awards

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features Elsie Fisher In Kenzo - 2019 Golden Globe Awards

Elsie Fisher is yet to wear a dress on the red carpet. And, if you thought that might change for the 2019 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (January 6) in Beverly Hills, California, she quickly put that notion to rest.

Keeping to the suit-forward streak, she wore a bespoke Kenzo number styled with a bright, red tassel bag, which did help break up some of the one-note quality of the head-to-toe burgundy look.

The plush velveteen effect offered a dressier effect for the separates. However, for a custom piece, I would have expected a bit more of a polished finish.

However, you have to admire her zeal to march — in pants — to the beat of her own drum.

What do you make of it?

2019 AFI Awards Red Carpet Roundup

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon Features 2019 AFI Awards Red Carpet Roundup

The 2019 AFI Awards was a packed house with several more ladies taking to the red carpet this afternoon (January 4), to receive their accolades.

Elsie Fisher: This young lady never fails to put a smile on my face. Yet to don a dress on the red carpet this calendar year, I’m wondering if that will change for the Globes on Sunday. Her signature trousered style was looking very bright in this M Missoni Resort 2019 outfit, which was of course styled with her other signature: a Kate Spade New York bag.

Emma Stone: While I was tempted to say, “thank you, next”, to this Louis Vuitton Spring 2019 look, when I paused to take a moment, this look isn’t actually so bad. What lets it down are the black slingbacks. I wish she’s opted for the ‘Overnight Cross’ sandals, but thankful she didn’t go for the LV Archlight boots.

Keri Russell: Dressed in Dior, I found myself a little underwhelmed by this offering. Usually I’m mesmerized by Keri on the red carpet, but I’m not getting any goosebumps today.

12th Annual CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon feature the 12th Annual CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute

The 12th Annual CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute took place on Sunday (December 9) in New York City, with a host of stars taking to the red carpet.

Danai Gurira: Following the latest screening of ‘Black Panther, Danai was back on the red carpet this weekend wearing a dainty ruffle accented dress from Sies Marjan. The colour is…amazing. I love how she mixing things up. You never know what she will serve up next.

Uzo Aduba: At the moment Uzo is having a glorious time on the red carpet. The less is more approach is really working in her favour. This Brandon Maxwell off-the-shoulder dress provides the perfect balance of chic and sexy. A Roger Vivier clutch and Giuseppe Zanotti sandals complete her look.

Cynthia Erivo: The actress certainly has the chops to pull of this fashion-forward Thom Browne Fall 2018 look that has a touch of body armor and ’50s inspiration thanks to the structured hips. Malone Souliers ‘Marguerite’ pumps completed her look.

The Hollywood Reporter’s Power 100 Women In Entertainment

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon feature The Hollywood Reporter's Power 100 Women In Entertainment

Lupita Nyong’o was joined on the red carpet for The Hollywood Reporter’s Power 100 Women In Entertainment event on Wednesday (December 5) in Los Angeles, California, by a host of lovely ladies.

Amandla Stenberg: The young actress continues to have fun with fashion. This time she wore a Sies Marjan Fall 2018 striped suit which was oversized, but not outsized. The pretty pink hue ensured a feminine vibe.

Danai Gurira: The actress is back to wearing bold colour, and I couldn’t be happier. While I love the draping of this Poiret Spring 2019 dress, I prefer how this dress was presented on the runway.

Awkwafina: I surprised that even with this cheery bug-print MSGM top and skirt that the actress still can’t raise a smile.

Elsie Fisher In A.L.C. – 2018 Gotham Independent Film Awards

Elsie Fisher In A.L.C. - 2018 Gotham Independent Film Awards

Elsie Fisher picked up the Breakthrough Actor prize at the 2018 Gotham Independent Film Awards on Monday (November 26) in New York City, for her role in ‘Eighth Grade.’

Opting for her second suiting option in a row, the young actress wore a vibrant A.L.C. Fall 2018 suit in a bright pink hue.

While I love the suit, I wasn’t crazy about the accessories.

Both were picked keep the look youthful, but the Kate Spade New York ‘Nicola’ shoulder bag didn’t fit with the power suit, and the black Stella Luna ‘Stella Stripe’ ankle boots felt too heavy.

2018 Governors Awards

2018 Governors Awards

The 2018 Governors Awards on Sunday (November 18) in Hollywood, California were a star-studded affair. Lovely ladies joined Rosamund Pike and Lupita Nyong’o.

Emily Blunt: The ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ actress glimmered in a custom Dundas top and skirt with Jimmy Choo shoes and David Yurman jewels. Despite the plethora of crop tops we have seen, this sharp-shouldered style held my attention thanks to the luxurious mix of metallics.

Gemma Chan: The flowing shape of the ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ star’s Stella McCartney ensemble was accented with the pleated shoulder detail. The finishing touches and wrinkles bring it down slightly.

Amy Adams: She lightened up in a whimsical Schiaparelli gown. The refined silhouette balances the girlish pink tones and heart detail. A crushed velvet Tyler Ellis clutch brought in more feminine charm.
