If you’ve been following the festival this weekend, you’ll know just how exceptional the red carpet fashion has been. Frankly, London has outdone both the New York Film Festival and TIFF. The ladies have been delivering their A++ game, and Carey Mulligan is no exception.

We’re used to Carey starting her press tours with understated looks before knocking us off our feet during awards season. But this time, she came straight out of the gate wearing a Celine Spring 2027 metallic silver pleated tunic T-shirt layered over a matching column skirt.

I love how the asymmetric neckline, exaggerated cuffs and diagonal overlay give what could have been a simple silver gown so much more character.

I often feel that certain looks are best appreciated in motion on the red carpet, but this is one that benefits from standing still. The way the hem fans out into a circle around her feet gives the skirt a sculptural quality that would be lost if it were shortened. So, for once, you won’t catch me complaining about the length.

White Celine High pumps and Celine Triomphe Mini 02 sunglasses completed the look.

If this is Carey’s idea of easing into a press tour, she’s certainly raised expectations for what comes next.
