Karlie Kloss Continues Her Impressive Archival Fashion Run

Karlie Kloss was spotted making her way to The New York Times’ 175th anniversary celebration of independent reporting, held at Spring Studios on Thursday.

The model has been on a monumentally impressive archival run recently, and you know what? It makes so much sense.

Karlie may have worn modern and avant-garde fashion throughout her runway career, but her personal style has always leaned towards classic tailoring and a more refined sensibility. She was never part of the Victoria’s Secret Hervé Léger era, and I can’t remember the last time – if ever – she wore a sheer dress on the red carpet.

Some might suggest that her style has become more conservative because of her husband’s position and family, but long before she became Mrs Joshua Kushner, Karlie was already drawn to this kind of dressing, which is perhaps why this recent dive into the archives feels like such a natural progression for her.

And lately, the results have been impressive.

I first really took notice of this archival run during her press tour for Spaghetti Code, when she wore an archival Dolce & Gabbana suit. It may have given 1980s news-anchor energy, but it worked beautifully for her.

The same can be said for this Giorgio Armani Fall 1992 look, featuring a monochrome sequinned dinner jacket with an integrated tie detail and black pencil skirt. The elongated tie is instantly recognisable as part of Giorgio Armani’s long-standing exploration of masculine codes within womenswear, but on Karlie, the look doesn’t feel like she’s playing dress-up in another decade.

What I love most is how naturally this sits within her existing wardrobe. The sharp shoulders, streamlined skirt and graphic black-and-white palette feel completely in step with Karlie’s style, which is perhaps why her archival streak has been so successful. She isn’t reaching into the archives simply to wear something old or recognisable; she’s finding pieces that already speak her fashion language.

It may be thirty-four years old, but this Armani look feels like it was from the recent Fall 2026 collection.
