Alicia Vikander’s Romantic Venice Return for ‘The Echo Chamber’

On Sunday, Alicia Vikander returned to the Venice Film Festival red carpet, where the Swedish actress was promoting her new film, The Echo Chamber.

Alicia wears Louis Vuitton 90% of the time – perhaps even more than that – so her Chloé Resort 2027 look for the photocall was an unexpected switch.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t sold on it. One look at those creases and any chance of me liking this disappeared, and I’m still trying to understand this belt-loop-with-no-belt trend. It keeps appearing, and I’m yet to see what it contributes to a look.

The top and shoes are the saving graces for me, but overall, this wasn’t the LV detour I was hoping for.

Premiere

I was both thankful to see Alicia back in Louis Vuitton for the premiere, because this pastel-green look was dreamy.

The silk bustier fits her impeccably, while the frilled skirt and oversized draped sash lean fully into the romance of the look. And it gets even better in motion, when you can appreciate the fluid layers of the skirt and the soft train trailing behind her.

This is also why Alicia’s long-standing relationship with Louis Vuitton continues to work so well on the red carpet. Her record with the house is almost flawless because she consistently selects pieces that suit her style sensibilities. She never appears to be wearing something simply because she is an ambassador; there is always a clear connection between the design and the understated, feminine elegance she naturally gravitates towards.

This gown is a perfect example. The pastel green is beautiful against her complexion, the silhouette feels romantic without becoming overly sweet, and that immaculate bustier gives all those flowing layers some structure.

Even better, the matching Louis Vuitton sandals were absolutely the right choice. Seeing the shoes revealed through the movement of the skirt only confirms it. I wouldn’t have wanted to see a pump with this dress at all.

Alicia was joined on the red carpet by her husband, Michael Fassbender, who was dressed by Berluti.
