Adèle Exarchopoulos as Phoebe Philo To ‘La Bataille De Gaulle: L’Âge De Fer’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere
Adèle Exarchopoulos attended the La Bataille De Gaulle: L’Âge De Fer premiere during Cannes Film Festival wearing a look from Phoebe Philo that delivered intrigue from every angle.

At first glance, the focus is entirely on the sculptural white top, which had an almost duvet-like quality with its exaggerated padded volume wrapping around the torso. It is undeniably conceptual, but the contrast against the black trousers stopped it from feeling too abstract for the red carpet.

But the back is where things became even more interesting. The open-back detail gave the look an unexpected sensuality, while the trousers featured long exposed zippers running up the back of each leg, creating a slit effect that shifted dramatically as she walked. It also explains why the trousers weren’t tailored shorter, because altering the length would have disrupted the exposed back zippers which are central to the design.

This felt like a strong example of Phoebe Philo’s ability to make minimalism feel directional while still giving us something visually unexpected.
