Rei Ami & Anna Wintour Wear Altuzarra In Two Ways

Last week, South Korean-American singer and rapper Rei Ami stepped out at the Fashion Trust U.S. Awards wearing a striking look from Altuzarra’s Fall 2026 collection, defined by its painterly, body-mapped print.

Fast forward to last night, and the same dress made another appearance, this time on none other than Anna Wintour, who wore it to Tessa Thompson’s The Fear Of 13 Broadway opening night.

Now, it’s not often that Anna is seen following anyone’s fashion lead; she is, after all, one of the industry’s ultimate arbiters of style. But this moment isn’t about comparison, it’s about interpretation.

Rei Ami’s version felt fresh, letting the artistry of the print take centre stage.

Anna, on the other hand, did what she does best: she made it unmistakably her own. Her version appeared to be custom-tailored to her exact specifications – longer sleeves, a slightly heavier fabrication – and styled with her signature uniform of oversized sunglasses, a statement necklace, and sandals. (Though, it must be said, the snake-skin sandals feel like a strange choice against such a bold print.)

Interestingly, this isn’t even Anna’s first outing in this dress. She previously wore the dress to the Lorne New York premiere on April 9, two days after Rei Ami debuted it.

So rather than asking who wore it better, the real takeaway is how a single design can shift identities so seamlessly, from emerging music star to fashion institution, each bringing their own perspective to the same canvas.

Because great fashion isn’t about ownership. It’s about interpretation.
