Charli XCX Wore Saint Laurent & Simon Carle at ‘The Moment’ & ‘The Gallerist’ Sundance Film Festival Premieres

Charli XCX was pulling double duty at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, promoting her sharply self aware mockumentary The Moment and The Gallerist alongside Jenna Ortega.

The Moment Premiere

As much as I dislike coats trailing along the floor, I will concede that this Saint Laurent animal free fur jacket at least makes sense in Utah. Worn with a sharply cut Saint Laurent suit, leather gloves and Amalia pumps, the look leaned fully into Charli’s cool detachment.

This is where her attitude does most of the work. On anyone else, the severity might have felt overdone, but she sells it through sheer indifference. That said, for a Sundance premiere tied to a mockumentary that thrives on self awareness, I did expect something a more playful.

The Gallerist Premiere

This Simon Carle Spring 2024 mini dress layered under a hooded rain poncho feels like it should have been saved for Glastonbury, where rain is not just expected, it is part of the experience. At Sundance, it reads misplaced. I understand the impulse to play with practicality, we’ve seen this already with Cristin Milioti, but this crossed into novelty. The hood immediately brought to mind the plastic rain bonnets my grandmother used to keep in her handbag, and once you see that reference, it is hard to unsee it.

The plasticky looking Marni shoes only added to the confusion. This is one of those moments where the irony does not quite land, and the styling ends up doing the heavy lifting for all the wrong reasons.

Charli can sell almost anything, but even that confidence could not fully distract from how out of place this felt for a Sundance premiere. Festival dressing, yes. Film festival dressing, less so.

It feels playful, yes, but also very awkward.

Stylist: Chris Horan.
