Mikey Madison Wore Dior by John Galliano To The ‘Weapons’ LA Screening
Mikey Madison attended the post-screening celebration for Weapons at the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills on Monday evening, continuing what has become a closely watched style chapter since her Oscar win and subsequent appointment as a Dior ambassador.
I have been intrigued to see her step into Jonathan Anderson’s Dior vision, especially after an Academy Museum Gala outing that left many of us wanting more. Instead, Mikey turned her attention to the house’s past, selecting a Dior Fall 2005 mini dress from John Galliano’s era.
The dress itself sits in that Galliano sweet spot: lingerie-adjacent, softly embellished, and suspended somewhere between romance and fragility. But once again, I’m underwhelmed by this ongoing fixation with these neutral tones for Mikey.
Why is there a reluctance to explore colour with her. That brief red dresses era were such a standout moments — fresh, youthful, and memorable — and it proved how much colour can elevate her presence.
Finished with gold Aquazzura Sweet Surrender slingbacks, this isn’t the change in direction I was expecting when she switched stylists. For an actress at this moment in her career, and with access to Dior’s full spectrum past and present, I can’t help but wish for better choices ahead.
