Cynthia Erivo Wore Bottega Veneta To The 2025 GQ Men of the Year Awards
Cynthia Erivo was honoured by GQ at their 2025 Men of the Year Awards, which—despite the title—has always celebrated anyone, regardless of gender, who has shaped culture that year. So the confusion in some corners of the internet says more about people not paying attention than it does about the award itself. Cynthia’s cultural imprint over the last year has been undeniable, as has her presence on that carpet.

It also feels like Cynthia has officially stepped out of her Elphaba era and into something I’m calling her outerwear era. After that blooming floral coat at the Governors Awards, she arrived in London wrapped in this incredible Bottega Veneta recycled fiberglass fringe piece from Spring 2026. It’s sculptural, it’s OTT, it’s utterly her.
And let’s talk about the decision to ditch the runway skirt and go bottomless. London temperatures dipped this week, so the fact that she stepped out in the minus degrees is equal parts commitment and brave. The runway styling wouldn’t have delivered the attitude she’s serving here, and this is exactly why the “full runway or nothing” rule pushed by some houses just doesn’t work for every wearer or moment.
Marli New York jewels added sparkle, including a subtle Emerald City nod with a green gemstone ring. Black Christian Louboutin Hot Chick pumps grounded the look and let the top stay the focal point, as it should.

This is Cynthia Erivo in full command of her fashion narrative—unexpected, dramatic, and gloriously uncompromising.
