Ariana Grande Wore Gilbert Adrian To The ‘Wicked: For Good’ London Premiere

From Paris to London, the Wicked: For Good tour is picking up speed, with Ariana Grande stepping onto the Cineworld Leicester Square carpet this evening not wearing pink.

While the first Wicked press tour felt like she was contractually obligated to exist solely in bubblegum hues, this premiere marks a shift — and a welcome one for those experiencing pink fatigue. This time, Ariana stepped into a darker palette, nodding to Elphaba territory with an archival 1952 Gilbert Adrian one-shoulder gown, sourced through Lily et Cie. The gown’s sculpted silhouette and tonal pailettes offered drama, giving us elegance through narrative rather than theme-park literalism.

And this is the kind of archival pull that only Law Roach could summon with ease. His knowledge isn’t just about “fashion history” in the vague sense — it’s actual fashion history. He understands context, lineage, and why certain garments matter. And here, he chose a look that honours Ariana’s own evolution, without relying solely on sugar-spun tropes of Glinda.

Swarovski jewellery completed the look, while the return to dark hair brings back warmth and depth to her complexion. One of the challenges of last year’s blonde era was that it washed her out under flash photography — tonight, everything feels balanced.

If this is signalling a new chapter for Ariana on this press tour — we’re in for a very intriguing ride.
