Kim Kardashian Wore Maison Margiela Haute Couture 2025 Academy Museum Gala
Shame on me, because I thought Kim Kardashian’s Schiaparelli look for the All’s Fair LA premiere might have been a turning point in her style. But as soon as I saw her at the 2025 Academy Museum Gala, it was very much a case of “here we go again.”

She thinks she’s making a statement in this Maison Margiela Spring 2025 Haute Couture look, but this feels like a tired rerun. I genuinely thought this phase would have died when Demna moved to Gucci, but apparently not. Her team have completely run out of ideas.
The full-coverage, skin-tone mask might have been shocking the first few times she did it, but at this point it’s veered into self-parody. It’s not boundary-pushing anymore — it’s formulaic. The intention was likely to play with anonymity and sculpture, yet the execution feels hollow because we’ve seen this concept from her so many times before: the Balenciaga 2021 Met Gala, 2020 Halloween, Paris Fashion Week appearances, and countless editorial nods to “faceless fashion.”
The nude, body-hugging gown itself doesn’t help. It’s meant to evoke Margiela’s avant-garde codes of deconstruction and anonymity, but here it reads as minimal to the point of lifeless. There’s no contrast, no sense of irony, no fresh tension between couture craftsmanship and celebrity identity — which is exactly what makes Margiela exciting.
Instead, it comes across as attention-seeking performance art without the substance to back it up. The mask doesn’t challenge the red carpet gaze anymore; it just signals, “Look at me — again.”

Kim, we’re bored. Imagine going to a classy event like this and having to breathe your own breath the whole night.
