The reference was crystal clear—literally—with the fun-fur hat tying the homage together. What I love about these kinds of recreations is how they reclaim moments that were once dismissed. At the time, Pamela’s outfit was ranked among the “worst VMAs looks ever,” but in hindsight, it’s pure camp and cultural gold. Summer clearly understood that and leaned into it.
