The Brooklyn Artists Ball Made Possible by Dior
The Brooklyn Artists Ball returned to the Brooklyn Museum with its usual dazzling fusion of art, philanthropy, and fashion. Presented by Dior, the annual celebration honoured Darren Walker, President of the Ford Foundation, for his ongoing impact on social justice and the nonprofit sector. Naturally, the red carpet was dominated by Dior, as stars stepped out in the house’s signature mix of romance, restraint, and razor-sharp tailoring.

Ruffles and lace
Laufey was the embodiment of a whimsical sonata in Dior Spring 2025 Haute Couture. The nude silk gauze mini top and skirt set was classic Maria Grazia Chiuri, but Laufey cleverly edited the look to suit her vibe. She let the delicate black shorts and trailing lace tendrils have their moment, and by ditching the bolero the look felt even more playful. And those long-awaited lace-up Dior Haute Couture shoes? Finally. They added just the right amount of ballerina fantasy. Laufey clearly knows her fashion rhythm, and I’m enjoying every note.

Are You Up or Down On The Washington Rollercoaster?
I know this Dior Resort 2025 black lace sheer dress by Maria Grazia Chiuri might not be everyone’s cup of tea—but hear me out. Between the stacked Dior necklaces, the confident styling, and the fact that her hair and makeup that are miles better than her last red carpet outing, this is a definite win for Kerry Washington. It’s moody, with just the right amount of daring.

Pale and embellished? Of course
Alexandra Daddario stayed firmly within her Dior comfort zone. Another pale-hued, embellished dress? Naturally. I’ve longed to see her break away from this MGC formula, but I have to admit—it works for her. While I can’t say it was an exciting choice, it was a pretty one, and sometimes that’s enough when you’re playing to your strengths.

Less is more… again
Keri Russell served up a minimalist Dior Spring 2025 look complete with the cold-shoulder cut that was a Chiuri trademark for this collection. Paired with black frame glasses, a Dior bag, and classic black pumps, the ensemble leaned heavily into understated elegance. That said, it felt a little too paint-by-numbers. I wished for just one unexpected twist—Keri’s too interesting for the safe lane.

She’s Back
It’s been far too long since Zazie Beetz blessed a red carpet, but this Dior Resort 2025 white lace top and skirt set wasn’t one of her bolder colour choices. The intricate patterning kept it from fading into background noise. Points for the visible Dior boots underneath the skirt—a cheeky little rebellion against the ethereal theme.

Keeping the romance alive
Auli’i Cravalho stays true to her signature love for intricately detailed dresses, and in the context of Maria Grazia Chiuri’s typically minimalist aesthetic, her choice of this embroidered green tulle Dior design feels like a breath of fresh air. Dreamy yet grounded, it perfectly channels her romantic sensibility and feels entirely, and unmistakably her.

Emma Roberts went full Upper East Side
There’s nothing wrong with a good houndstooth moment, and this Dior jacket and skirt certainly delivered one. But on Emma Roberts, the look skewed more ladies-who-lunch. The tailoring was sharp, the styling precise—but it aged her unnecessarily. I wanted more playfulness, less prep school principal.

Proves less really can be more
In a black Dior Men’s suit by Kim Jones, Caleb McLaughlin nailed minimalist with a modern edge. The silhouette was clean, the vibe quietly confident.

Contemporary Spin on Classic Grey Tailoring
Cory Michael Smith’s grey wool suit, also by Kim Jones for Dior Men, was anything but boring. Paired with a black knit, the look was tailored to perfection and had just the right mix of classic and contemporary. This was understated elegance with character.
