Megan Thee Stallion Wore Nicole + Felicia To The 2024 MTV VMAs

Megan Thee Stallion was on triple duty at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards—hosting the event, accepting the award for Best Trending Video for her hit ‘Mamushi,’ and performing a fiery medley of tracks including ‘BOA,’ ‘HISS,’ ‘B.A.S.,’ and, of course, ‘Mamushi.’ But beyond her triple-threat presence, it was her red carpet look that had everyone talking.
Stepping into her bob era, Megan rocked the ‘Hot Girl Colour of the Summer’—black—dressed in a custom Nicole + Felicia Couture gown.
As someone who has been consistently frustrated by Megan’s red carpet choices, this look was a refreshing change. Gone were the Fashion Nova-esque designs. Instead, we got a gown that struck the perfect balance between her undeniable sex appeal and a sophisticated, intriguing design.
What I loved most about this dress was the illusion that Megan was either stepping out of her gown or undressing. It was the dynamic, almost deconstructed design and sensuality that I found really interesting. It’s rare to see her in a gown with that much intention behind it—it wasn’t just another skin-tight dress. The skirt adds a story.
At first glance, I assumed the gown would be restrictive, possibly forcing the rapper to bunny hop down the red carpet. But after seeing videos of her confidently striding, it was clear that the tie holding the skirt together allowed for easy movement. It was a brilliant design choice—sexy yet functional, and Megan pulled it off with ease.
This look felt like a step in the right direction for Megan. It stayed true to her persona, but added a layer of intrigue that I’ve been waiting to see. Here’s hoping this marks the beginning of a more elevated red carpet era for her.
