The 2024 Venice Film Festival concluded with a grand premiere: ‘Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2.’ This marked a significant bookend to the event, as the first chapter had been showcased earlier in May at the Cannes Film Festival.

The growing trend of releasing films in back-to-back chapters, like ‘Disclaimer’ and ‘Horizon’, adds an exciting new dimension to modern filmmaking. It allows directors to experiment with storytelling, capitalising on the shorter gaps between instalments. Audiences don’t need to reorient themselves or recall details from years ago—everything stays fresh, connected, and dynamic.

Personally, I’m planning to rewatch the original ‘Gladiator’ from 2000 before the upcoming ‘Gladiator II’ sequel, because I don’t remember much from the original apart from the main line, “are you not entertained?”

But beyond the storytelling, another benefit of this approach is that it gives us more red carpet looks from the film’s stars. Starting with Isabelle Fuhrman, who gave us a clean slate from her Cannes and LA premiere looks.

Photocall

For the photocall, Isabelle wore a sleek white suit from Brioni’s La Donna collection. The outfit featured high-waisted trousers paired with a cropped blazer—a combination that not everyone might embrace, but one I think worked beautifully. Some might not be on board high waist trousers meeting the cropped blazer, but I love how the streamline look appears, plus considering she is not wearing a blouse, I think a midriff or decolletage decision was made with the end result giving us a modern sensuality. The white platform sandals ensured the trousers flowed perfectly without dragging, a key yet often overlooked detail.

Isabelle’s minimalist approach gave the look a cool, crisp, and confident edge.

Premiere

Later that evening, Isabelle grace the red carpet in an off-the-shoulder, semi-sheer pleated gown by Ermanno Scervino.

While many may be hoping for the sheer trend to fade, this look demonstrated how the style can be executed with grace and sophistication. Unlike the more daring sheer outfits we’ve seen lately (such as Meghann Fahy’s), this gown balanced delicacy and allure. The soft pleating provided texture, while the off-the-shoulder ruffle design added a touch of classic femininity.

Both of Isabelle’s looks were styled with Chopard jewels.
