Gucci @ The 2022 Met Gala

Gucci dressed Dakota Johnson, Jodie Turner-Smith, Joshua Jackson, Awkwafina, Billie Eilish, Finneas, Jared Leto and Anderson .Paak for the 2022 Met Gala on Monday (May 2) in New York City.

Like Blake Lively, Dakota Johnson served up a two-for-one special as her rose velvet draped robe from her custom Gucci look was removed to reveal a stunning black sheer lace catsuit embellished with all-over metal beaded fringes.

While the robe brings the drama, it also felt quite heavy, so I prefer the look sans robe.

Jodie Turner-Smith gave us a decadent showgirl look wearing a custom Gucci crystal strass chain bra and fringed miniskirt with almond pink pleated chiffon open skirt.

Jodie’s Gucci moments never fail to deliver, although you didn’t love her last outing at the 2022 Critics’ Choice Awards.

Whatever body lotion or shimmer they applied to her skin; I need by the bucket load. Her skin is more radiant than those crystals.

Gucci High Jewelry completed her look.

Meanwhile, husband Joshua Jackson wore a custom black Gucci suit styled with a Gucci snake motif ring.

I am choosing to believe that Awkwafina was presented with this custom Gucci salmon pink and multicolour tulle puff sleeve dress, the moment she was about to step onto the red carpet, because it’s not her style (her face says it all) and it doesn’t really fit (I’m looking at the upper part of the dress).

Billie Eilish was giving us her best “I don’t want to be here” face as she walked the red carpet wearing a Regency Core-inspired custom upcycled Gucci ivory and duchesse satin corseted gown.

Despite the permanent scowl, I really loved the design, the theme, and the fact that it’s not an oversized black dress.

Finneas wore a Gucci black tailcoat with pleated skirt from the Spring 2017 collection.

Jared Leto and Creative Director Alessandro Michele were twinning not only in their custom Gucci suits, but also in the hair and accessories department which included the Gucci ‘Blondie’ bag.

While there is no kinship here, the resemblance is uncanny.

You may remember that Elizabeth Stewart and Julia Roberts did this first when they walked the red carpet in matching Givenchy suits and accessories for the 2018 InStyle Awards.

Anderson .Paak was channeling his inner Ike Turner wearing a custom Gucci look with the hero piece being the floral jacquard collarless jacket.

He completed his look with round metal frame sunglasses.  I just love how this dude is always in a Silk Sonic soulful mood.
