Awkwafina In Mimi Plange – 2019 SAG Awards

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features Awkwafina In Mimi Plange - 2019 SAG Awards

Awkwafina stepped out at the 2019 SAG Awards on Sunday (January 27), joining Michelle Yeoh, Constance Wu and Gemma Chan.

The embellished cape detail on her Mimi Plange Fall 2011 gown against the liquid flowing skirt was the definition of sophisticated glamour. It demonstrates that a relatively simple silhouette can make a strong impression.

The elegant style was punctuated with red lipstick and a coordinating clutch.

Awkwafina In Elisabetta Franchi – 2019 Critics’ Choice Awards

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features Awkwafina In Elisabetta Franchi - 2019 Critics’ Choice Awards

We have rare smile from Awkwafina who joined her ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ co-stars Gemma Chan and Constance Wu on the red carpet for the 2019 Critics’ Choice Awards on Sunday (January 13) in Santa Monica, California.

The actress-rapper wore a copper sequin gown from Elisabetta Franchi’s Spring 2019 collection which feel is much better suited to her style than those princess gowns she wore during her promo tour.

This look, styled with Christian Louboutin ‘Louloudancing’ platforms, ‘Vanite’ clutch plus jewels from Stefere and State Property, rounded out this dazzling entrance.

2019 National Board Of Review Annual Awards Gala Red Carpet Roundup

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features 2019 National Board Of Review Annual Awards Gala Red Carpet Roundup

There were a myriad of looks at the 2019 National Board Of Review Annual Awards Gala on Tuesday (January 8) in New York City. Celebrities joined Olivia Wilde.

Regina King: Breaking from her recent pink outfits, the ‘If Beale Street Could Talk’ actress wore a speckled Zac Posen gown which had a pattern that mimicked falling snow. The frilled bodice plays off the diagonal seaming.

Maggie Gyllenhaal: ‘The Kindergarten Teacher’ actress kept things understated in a neutral A.W.A.K.E. Spring 2019 dress. The earrings help enliven it but I would have chosen a different shoe.

Sophia Bush: Oozing Old Hollywood glamour, the actress was outfitted in a Zac Posen dress. This material is notorious for creasing and puckering so I commend the chic, liquid finish.

The Hollywood Reporter’s Power 100 Women In Entertainment

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon feature The Hollywood Reporter's Power 100 Women In Entertainment

Lupita Nyong’o was joined on the red carpet for The Hollywood Reporter’s Power 100 Women In Entertainment event on Wednesday (December 5) in Los Angeles, California, by a host of lovely ladies.

Amandla Stenberg: The young actress continues to have fun with fashion. This time she wore a Sies Marjan Fall 2018 striped suit which was oversized, but not outsized. The pretty pink hue ensured a feminine vibe.

Danai Gurira: The actress is back to wearing bold colour, and I couldn’t be happier. While I love the draping of this Poiret Spring 2019 dress, I prefer how this dress was presented on the runway.

Awkwafina: I surprised that even with this cheery bug-print MSGM top and skirt that the actress still can’t raise a smile.

22nd Annual Hollywood Film Awards

22nd Annual Hollywood Film Awards

The busy weekend of events saw more celebs join Nicole Kidman and Anne Hathaway on the red carpet for the 22nd Annual Hollywood Film Awards on Sunday (November 4) in LA.

Shailene Woodley: In recent times when I see Shailene, I feel like I should know her style by now, but it’s like she’s in the development–experimental stage at present. For example, back in 2014 when she was promoting ‘Divergent’ I don’t think she would’ve worn this Ralph & Russo jacket and shorts combo. While the look does feel fresh and new, I found the sleeves overwhelming here. Yvan Tufenkjian earrings and Christian Louboutin ‘So Kate’ pumps completed her look.

Janelle Monae: I always feel like there is a theme going on with Janelle, and on this occasion I love the ’60s mod theme imbued within her tri-colour The 2nd Skin Co. dress complete with white go-go boots.

Sophia Bush: I adore the luxe texture of her animal print A.L.C. suit, but the pink ADEAM bag was an eyesore with this look. Sophia’s accessories are usually on point, so I’m really disappointed on this occasion.

Awkwafina In Antonio Marras – 4th Annual Asian World Film Festival

Awkwafina In Antonio Marras - 4th Annual Asian World Film Festival

I always assumed that once the promo tours for ‘Ocean’s 8’ and ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ would finish, that Awkwafina would return to her original style, then I realised that I didn’t actually know what that was, and that an assumption had been made.

Based on her Antonio Marras Resort 2018 floral lace dress worn to the 4th Annual Asian World Film Festival closing night screening Of ‘In Harm’s Way’ on Thursday (November 01)in California, it suggests that uber feminine frocks oozing with charm is her style.

I like how the sheer hem gives the look an edge, and that she opted for a pop of colour via her footwear.

2018 InStyle Awards

2018 InStyle Awards

Here is roundup of the other ladies who joined Lily Collins, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Tracee Ellis Ross at the 2018 InStyle Awards on Monday (October 22) in LA.

Jennifer Aniston: Water is wet. The sky is blue. Jennifer Aniston is wearing a black dress.

Laverne Cox: The actress was channeling her inner Beyonce Knowles wearing a Johanna Ortiz Resort 2017 dress which oozed plenty of latin flare.

Storm Reid: Dressed in Preen by Thornton Bregazzi Resort 2019, this glittering confection was given a playful flourish thanks to her uber sweet afro puffs

Awkwafina In John Paul Ataker – ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ London Screening

Awkwafina In John Paul Ataker - ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ London Screening

Awkwafina joined Jing Lusi, Constance Wu and Gemma Chan for the special screening of ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ on Tuesday (September 4) in London.

Bold colours and sleek silhouettes are the calling cards of John Paul Ataker, and both come to the fore in this dress.

Cast in an uplifting red hue, this satin midi is framed with long sleeves and traced with keyhole cut-outs at the neckline – it was always destined to make a statement at this event.

Awkwafina In Versus Versace – 2018 iHeartRADIO MuchMusic Video Awards

Awkwafina In Versus Versace - 2018 iHeartRADIO MuchMusic Video Awards

Awkwafina hosted the 2018 iHeartRADIO MuchMusic Video Awards on Saturday (August 26) in Toronto, Canada.

The rapper-turned-actress got the party started in some style wearing a checked dress from Versus Versace’s Fall 2018 collection.

After a selection of gowns and suits during her promo tour for ‘Crazy Rich Asians,’ it was good to see her rocking something playful, brimming with personality and something that appeared perfectly suited to her style.

With a hot red lip and Versus Versace Fall 2018 black logo boots rounding out the entrance, this was easily her best look of 2018 for me.

Awkwafina In Peggy Hartanto & Vivienne Westwood Anglomania – Build Series & SiriusXM’s Spotlight With The Cast Of ‘Crazy Rich Asians’

Awkwafina In Peggy Hartanto & Vivienne Westwood Anglomania - Build Series & SiriusXM’s Spotlight With The Cast Of ‘Crazy Rich Asians’

Awkwafina joined Constance Wu for Build Series on Tuesday (14 (August) and SiriusXM’s Entertainment Weekly Radio Spotlight With The Cast Of ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ on Wednesday (August 15) in New York City.

Build Series: I love any new twist on a jumpsuit, and this Peggy Hartanto piece with its illusion cut out and hip enhancing silhouette totally capture my attention. I wish she opted for hot-pink or yellow pumps instead of the nude Jimmy Choo pumps she wore.

SiriusXM’s Spotlight With The Cast Of ‘Crazy Rich Asians’: Capturing Vivienne Westwood’s Anglomania rock and roll, ‘I don’t give a f**k,’ perspective the actress rocked a Fall 2018 suit patterned with a unique pink tartan check.I would say this suit is oversized, but some might say it’s too big for her petite frame; but with the crop top breaking up the look she carries this off very well for me. Pretty pink sandals completed her look.

Awkwafina In Reem Acra – ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ LA Premiere

Awkwafina In Reem Acra - ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ LA Premiere

Awkwafina joined her co-stars Kris Aquino, Constance Wu and Michelle Yeoh by making a dramatic entrance onto the red carpet for the premiere of ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ on Tuesday (August 7).

The rapper naturally has that b-girl persona going on, but she does love ultra feminine gowns, as showcased once again in Reem Acra Pre-Fall 2018.

Her dusty-pink satin gown is lovely; worthy of major premiere.

I adore the red satin bow offering a pretty pop of contrast – complemented by the clutch and her lip colour – but this is the one occasion where I would advocate wearing the highest of platforms, as I feel like she needed one or two more inches on her Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Betty’ sandals to perfect this look.

Le Vian diamond and ruby ring provided the finishing touch.

Awkwafina In Wolk Morais & Mulberry – ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Atlanta Premiere

Awkwafina In Wolk Morais & Mulberry – ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Atlanta Premiere

Awkwafina returned to the US for the ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ premiere on Thursday (August 2) in Atlanta, Georgia, following her trip to Canada.

The actress wore a vibrant Wolk Morais Fall 2018 suit that channeled ’80s power-dressing.

I love that this bold and chic option is rendered in the head-turning scarlet red shade, but it was the Mulberry Spring 2018 printed shirt which amped up this modern take on vintage tailoring.

Nicholas Kirkwood ‘Mira Pearl’ sandals completed her look.
