Following her win at The BRIT Awards, Lizzo was collecting yet more awards at the 2020 NAACP Image Awards held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on Saturday (February 22) in Pasadena, California, where she was named entertainer of the year, and her speech was a glorious celebration of the spirit of the evening – and some of her colleagues and idols, too.
In her speech she said, “I just want to shout out all the big black girls I bring onstage with me. I do that because I want them to know they are the trophies. Since this is the final award of the night, I don’t even want to make it about me. Every last one of you: you are the award. We are so special. We are such a beautiful people.”
There is a lot to love about this Mary Katrantzou custom look featuring a gold collar and striking geometric pattern in sequins that included her name printed in bold text.
Some may feel that the look is a bit mute by her standards, or wish the pattern gone full circle rather than appearing at just the front, but I love regal air of it all.
Dena Kemp jewels, Smash sandals and a Lynn Ban Bullion 24kt gold-plated necklace bag completed her look.
