Happy Birthday Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel

Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel, one of the most influential icons of all time, was born on this day, August 19.

As well as the box-cut bouclé jackets, Breton T-shirts, camellia brooches and Chanel No.5, she was also known for wise and witty quotes:

“A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous”

“Fashion fades, only style remains the same.“

and my favourites;

“Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off.”

“The best things in life are free. The second best are very expensive.”
