Marion Cotillard In Chanel Haute Couture – ‘La Belle Epoque’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Marion Cotillard In Chanel Haute Couture - 'La Belle Epoque' Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Marion Cotillard attended premiere of ‘La Belle Epoque’ during the 2019 Cannes Film Festival on Monday (May 20) in France.

I’ve said time and time again. A contract-free Marion doesn’t play by any fashion rules.

And that was proven with this look from Chanel’s Spring 1999 Haute Couture collection.

This two-piece taffeta look doesn’t check the usual boxes; it’s not embellished, it’s not decked out in feathers, it’s not sheer, and that’s probably why I don’t hate it.

As you know I’ve always been a box checker when comes to red carpet fashion at Cannes, but more and more often, I’ve been seeking a little more.

Especially this year when no one has been nailing it aside from Julianne Moore, Helen Mirren and Elsa Hosk.

The one thing you can say about this look – love it or hate it – is that it’s authentically Marion.

I can picture her wearing this to the Met Gala, to the Cesar Awards, and even to the Oscars.

This will leave you feeling refreshing, or disappointed.

Which side of the fence are you on?

Chopard jewels completed her look.

After a week of really disappointing looks,I am starting to lose hope for this year’s Cannes, this must be the most boring year along with 2014 and 2016.
No major players here, where is Fan bingbing, Diane Kruger,Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett and Angelina Jolie when you need them??

Now back to Marion’s look, had she worn the runway color ,I would’ve had more excitement, but this black version failed to impress.

Add Salma Hayek and Blake Lively(especially now with that beautiful baby bump) to that list

Blake lively is always welcome on my list, but I’m not sure if she is still with L’oreal.
Salma Hayek on the other hand hasn’t given me any memorable look for a long time now. Ever since her marriage she would only wear GUCCI it appears

This looks like a prom dress from 10 Things I hate About You

Think I would’ve liked this more at one of the photo-calls – especially if she’d worn the lavender colour from the runway

Looks like she was headed to a party in the beach and made a wrong turn.

I dont find this to be bold or daring or refreshing. This is bad. The skirt I can manage, that top I can NOT. The top is so unflattering, dated and just plain ugly.
And to think this is couture. Smh

and the fact that this vintage couture dress is not a timeless silhouette so it appeared to be dated and uninspiring in today.

There’s something weird about Chanel HC. It always looks like it’s made for the client rather than the redcarpet and this look, more than ever looks exactly like it was made for a client.

It’s a bold choice for a Redcarpet and it must be really comfortable. It’s daring for Cannes but it doesn’t have the wow factor I need.

I like Marion in Chanel i just wish she picks the right outfit. The same can be said about Penelope.

i would’ve loved to see her in the original color

this is all kinda of awful. Out of all the dresses in the world…this is what you choose?

    • Charlotte2019 May 21, 2019 at 3:22 am #

I feel like Marion is kinda lost Post-Dior,first she teamed up with LV and had some awful looks and then she jumped on the Chanel train and this is what she got? This is even worse than her Dior days

      You are so right.

    • Guest May 21, 2019 at 12:32 pm #

She has never teamed with Vuitton?

I love the idea of going into the archives but I hate this, it feels dated, lacklustre and kinda cheap.
