Virginie Ledoyen In Chanel – ‘The Dead Don’t Die’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere & Opening Ceremony

Posted by Rachel Watkins

Virginie Ledoyen was also at ‘The Dead Don’t Die’ premiere to kick off the 2019 Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday (May 14).

For the occasion, she chose a Chanel Resort 2019 embellished gown, styled with Chopard jewels.

If you look closely, you’ll see that the multi-colour detail and the diamond patterning was intricately created with sequins, which made for a beautiful artistry of design.

Yet, there was still a subtlety to the dress when compared to many of the statement gowns we’ve seen on this red carpet so far.

Was it too safe on night one of Cannes for you?

    Not a good look

It looks so charming but feels too quiet for Cannes. Even French women can go a little more glamorous.

The colours don’t work for her.

matronly is the first thing that came to mind, but look at the model on the lookbook, the dress is quite youthful, which is quite weird. I guess the wearer should have better styling?

I have a feeling that this dress is beautiful in real life but the details are lost in the picture. In the picture, it just looks matronly.

Definitely too safe & matronly. I’m not particular fond of the placing of the multicolour pattern.

Looks too simple and underwhelming for Cannes opening, and even a touch frumpy, the sequins do not translate. This dress is for Anna Wintour.

Anna Wintour is the first person who comes to mind too when I saw this dress
