Caroline de Maigret In Chanel – ‘The Dead Don’t Die’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere & Opening Ceremony

Film Festival Premiere & Opening Ceremony

Our second Chanel look of the 2019 Cannes Film Festival came with Caroline de Maigret for the premiere of ‘The Dead Don’t Die’ on Tuesday (May 14), joining fellow French actress Virginie Ledoyen in representing the label.

This Pre-Fall 2019 design had something of a vintage-inspired flair, but you can certainly envision the Egyptian inspiration that also inspired the collection with the gold textiles that could pass for metal plating.

The elegant insouciance of this dress is what stood out to me most, though — right down to her no-nonsense strands and hands in pockets.

It’s a nonchalance that she has perfected. Was it just right or were you wishing for more?

Somehow reminds me of a fish, and not in a good way.
Hair should at the very least have been an updo.

It fits her vibe but I’m wishing for more on the occasion plus I don’t like the shoe choice with it.

She’s French, she’s chic and she was a perennial muse of Karl Lagerfeld so she gets away with the underdressed look. If this were a big Hollywood star I would definitely have expected way more.

Needed better styling and better shoes, IMO.

Not the right wearer, and I don”t like how it’s styled, esp those shoes, takes it to costume territory.

I like the Egyptian inspo clearly there, but it kind of went slack in the middle of the dress. The black fabric just doesn’t match the vibe. Or her styling…it all needed more zing.

Not bad but not enough to get excited about, and I don’t think her attitude matches the look – it looks more like she is rocking a tux.
