Janelle Monae’s look was more than meets the eye — literally and no pun intended — at the 2019 Met Gala on Monday (May 6) in New York City.
Her custom Christian Siriano creation was the epitome of the campiest camp — right down to the special effects of the blinking-eye bodice. But, it was also so smart in its design.
The dress paid homage to one of Janelle’s favourite artists, Pablo Picasso, with the abstraction of the facial features.
The two sides of the tulip-hipped gown, as well as the stack of precariously positioned, gravity-defying top hats, also offered a certain androgynous mood — as is signature of the entertainer.
This is how you garner all the gazes at the Met Gala pink carpet.
