Dazzling in a beautifully embroidered Ralph & Russo gown, Penelope Cruz was the picture of elegance at this year’s Golden Globe Awards. Her full look was topped off will a glowing beauty look created by celeb makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury.
Described as the ultimate Dolce Vita icon, Charlotte was sure to highlight Penelope’s stunning features while accentuating her signature sultry style with pops of peach and ultra-flattering bronze tones. Using Lancôme, here’s how you can achieve this luxuriously smoky beauty look.
SKIN: For this look, it was all about achieving a radiant base that was perfectly bronzed and richly hydrated. To create Penelope’s “goddess complexion”, Charlotte double cleansed her skin to restore moisture while refreshing her overall skin. She then followed up with a generous application of Lancôme Absolue Revitalizing & Brightening Soft Cream to lock in the facial-like effects of the initial cleansing processes. The ultra-hydrating cream was massaged onto Penelope’s skin using Charlotte’s signature Tilbury Tap technique. She also advises using a nourishing eye cream around the eyes and remembering to tap in the product around the eye for proper application.
Once the skin was effectively prepped, Charlotte moved onto cosmetics. To ensure a long-lasting, flawless application of foundation that remained radiant and ever-glowing, she primed Penelope’s skin with Lancôme Prep & Matte Primer. Charlotte then buffed Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24H Long Wear Foundation in 360 N Bisque onto Penelope’s skin. To combat any darkness under the eyes, Charlotte brightened the under eye by concentrating full coverage product over any uneven areas. To set the makeup, a finely milled powder was dusted along the T-zone for an effortlessly even, high definition look that blurred any imperfections or fine lines that may have appeared post base application. Grabbing a peachy-bronzed tone blush, she softly swished the product onto Penelope’s cheeks which created a healthy glow while delicately sculpting her cheekbones.
EYES: To achieve Penelope’s mesmerizing, smoky eye look, Charlotte used her classic 4-step method which primes, enhances, smokes, and pops the makeup on the eyes. For this brown and peach-shaded look, she used Lancôme Color Design 5 Pan Eyeshadow in Siena Sultry and expertly applied the stunning shades of the palette on Penelope’s eyes using her signature style. Charlotte framed the look by lining Penelope’s eyes in a flicked cat-eye-like style with Lancôme Le Crayon Kôhl in Café Serre, a deep, seductive chocolate brown. The lifted flick style of the liner both elongated and opened the eyes without being too harsh. To top off the glamourous eyes, a few generous applications of Lancôme Hypnôse Drama Mascara were brushed onto Penelope’s lashes which ultimately gave her eyes the fluttery Hollywood finish.
LIPS: While Penelope’s pouty lips always look picture-perfect, Charlotte wanted to further pronounce her pout by cheating a fuller, wider shape with Lancôme Le Lip Liner in Rose and followed by saturating Penelope’s lips with Lancôme L’Absolue Rouge in Si Seulement, a beautiful neutral toned lipstick.
BODY: Once the makeup was done, Charlotte wanted to take Penelope’s extravagant glow once step further. Using the same bronzed beauty techniques used throughout the makeup look, she created an enhanced glow along Penelope’s body. Charlotte applied body contouring product along her décolletage and down her arms for a gleaming, healthy glow. She then gave her arms a more multidimensional look by applying highlighter along the center of her arms and gently buffed out. This expert tip allows the arms to look longer and leaner. Concentrating on the body glow and finish made her final look that much more luxurious and radiant on the red carpet.
