Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge In Alexander McQueen – Prince Harry & Meghan Markle’s Royal Wedding

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding is the day I discovered a new found respected for Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

I have been very vocal in sharing my frustrations at the royal recycler, but if ever there was a day when the focus shouldn’t have been on her, it was today; and she acknowledged that by repeating her Alexander McQueen ivory coatdress.

This will be the third (as far as I’m aware) outing of this look, as she wore it to Princess Charlotte’s Christening and The Passchendaele Commemorations.

I love how the yellow floral detail in her Philip Treacy hat gives this look a new lease of life, with Jimmy Choo heels completed the look.

UPDATE: So, it has been confirmed that this is a new dress, in a slightly different colour. Which is a bit of a head scratcher considering the identical design.

It’s a new one because she had a baby 3 weeks ago – I’m still trying to lose my baby weight and my son is 32! She did exactly the right thing – people have seen it before so the spotlight would stay on Meghan so who cares if she needed a size bigger. I think she looked amazing.

She had 4 other outings in the dress which I prefer to this one. She looks nice and appropriate but nothing special. Her snapback game is impressive though, she has a great shape, and after 3 kids is already almost back to normal.

I thought the recycled outfit was something related to the whole sustainable-down-to-earth vibe of the wedding that Kate decided to follow through.
So now I’m a bit disappointed to find out it’s actually a new dress.
Still she looks fantastic. It’s a Duchess of Cambridge classic, it works for her and it’s gorgeous.
I honestly wouldn’t change a thing. From the colour to her smile, it’s all flawless.

Sooooooo boring and too close to white. Why does she have to dress like she’s 15 years older?

    1. She only gave birth recently and looks friggin amazing.
    2. Who can be bothered to conjure up a dress when you’re in the midst of newborn craze.
    3. She knows what works for her and this definitely does. Also, the colour makes her glow!
    4. I also totally respect that she didn’t want to distract from the main event.

    Sure fine.
    Charlotte is adorable though!

Nothing wrong with recycling. However new dress, same old zzzzzzz. She always looks so matronly.

Maybe one of the young princes or princess spilled something on the ivory dress 😆 she does look great though, I really enjoy the hat.

FC, please feature Harry’s ex- Chelsea Davy, she wore Alaïa and looked amaze!

Dull and the hat is just plain silly

Charlotte’s the real star here tho 😀

      Always x

I kinda agree with Isabela here. The whole look seems a little bit too white.

It’s been confirmed that this is actually a brand new coat. Same exact design as the one she previously wore but in a slightly different color. I don’t understand why she would waste money on a coat that is identical to one she already owns when she could have spent the money on something nicer.

ITA! What’s the point if you can’t tell the difference. In addition, if she was going to have it made in a different color for the event, why not a color less close to bridal white? I was prepared to give her a pass on the color for a rewear, but this just makes no sense.

I agree with you both, she does look great for just giving irth though.

  14. Isabela May 19, 2018 at 17:07 #

I don’t like this at all! This is too close to white, so a huge no for me.

Same old but she looks divine.

KP confirmed it is a new coat in “primrose yellow”. Same design, different color.

The fact that the Duchess recycles her outfits is relatable. She looks lovely.

    • Jill May 20, 2018 at 19:13 #

Agreed. It’s ridiculous to be “frustrated” with her for wearing beautiful and expensive clothes more than once. Why champion wastefulness? I understand this wasn’t actually a recycled look, but don’t criticize her for recycling. Our culture needs to get away from such emphasis on consumption.

  18. Miss H May 19, 2018 at 16:58 #

I totally agree with your sentiments about not being the focus FC. Love the hat and can we also please reflect on the fact that she looks damn good for a woman who only gave birth four weeks ago 😀
