Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge In Alexander McQueen – Princess Charlotte’s Christening

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge In Alexander McQueen - Princess Charlotte's Christening

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge was seen at the Church of St. Mary Magdalene on the Sandingham Estate in King’s Lynn, England for the christening of daughter Princess Charlotte of Cambridge on Sunday (July 5).

Pristinely chic, she wore an ivory Alexander McQueen coatdress with wide lapels, styled with a Jane Taylor orchid-festooned fascinator that contributed a sense of delicate whimsy.

Perfectly aligning to her sophisticated sartorial formula, the look may have been an expected one.

But there is no denying that she was beautiful in this demurely elegant rendition from one of her favoured designers.

About Catherine more of the same. Hi FC! Have you seen Queen Letizia at Peruvian State Dinner? She looked amazing!

This look was beautiful! It was complete event appropriate elegance. I especially loved neckline and fascinator.

We’d probably be less bored with this type of look at an occasion like this if she were a little more adventurous at less high level appearances. I think she looks pretty, but it is certainly nothing new or interesting. She could be sophisticated and chic without being inappropriate at all–maybe she thinks that’s what she’s doing. But there is a terrible sameness to all this.

    Its appropriate…..and same ole.

+1. It’s pretty and all but nothing new here. I know the dress code is a bit more strict for Kate but I wish she would take note from FLOTUS and have a little fun with what she wears. She’s still a young, beautiful woman, even if she is a posh Duchess.

this is what class and elegance looks like and it’s hardly aging her. Kate is the future Queen of England; she’s not going to wear some super short hoochie mama Versace.

    • AB July 6, 2015 at 15:44 #

Nobody expects Kate to dress like a hoochie, we all get that she has to dress modestly. You can be modest and young and glamourous. Kate outfits are always so staid as milly said what she was going to wear to this christening was soooooo predictable. And she really needs to re-think her headgear. When you husband’s stepmother and grandmother for that matter hats look better and more mordern than your own it’s time for a change!

Nah. There is a middle term between dress as the current Queen of the UK and dress as a Versace’s girl. I think she looks good, on her own standard, but is really boring that she is so stick to this formula (as milly said above: Coat dress, plus ugly hat and plus boring shoes). I don’t know if I ever saw her wearing her coat open.

All one has to do is take a look at Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden wore to the christenings of her own daughter and her niece, she looked young and appropriate while being completely fashionable. Kate tries too hard.

    Classy and chic.

  7. Christine July 6, 2015 at 10:36 #

She looks really nice. It’s not aging her IMO

    Perfection from h2t!Classy lady.

This is ok. Dull but ok. what I don’t understand is how she manages to look so middle aged and older than she is . You can be chic without looking dull but she never manages to- perhaps it’s the horrid fascinators.

    • AB July 6, 2015 at 09:50 #

She really needs to change the hats she wears, they are always so fuddy duddy. On this occasion Camilla’s hat looked more chic and modern than Kate’s!

      • milly July 6, 2015 at 10:35 #

She looks nice enough but the outfit would be much improved with some contemporary headwear. Her style is so predictable – coat dress plus ugly hat plus boring shoes. I get that she has to dress conservatively but that doesn’t have to mean boring and matronly.

“Coat dress plus ugly hat plus boring shoes” – Milly, you’ve nailed it!

        • bfly July 6, 2015 at 19:39 #

Absolutely. And that is the formula for one matronly wardrobe. Such a Shame, as she’s quite the beauty.

    • mm July 6, 2015 at 14:37 #

i was thinking the same thing, she looks so much older than she is, beautiful, maybe it the hairstyle, i think it is just the style of the coat dress.

      Gorgeous looks though

  10. Evita July 6, 2015 at 09:39 #

There is absolutely wrong with this look, don’t get me wrong, but it’s boring

    • Evita July 6, 2015 at 09:39 #

      *absolutely nothing wrong

    • Charlotte July 6, 2015 at 19:47 #

      I agree.
