‘Everybody Knows’ Cannes Film Festival Screening Red Carpet Roundup

The ‘Everybody Knows’ screening and Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony on Tuesday evening (May 8) in France had attendees kicking things off in high style.

Romee Strijd: The Dutch model was working every pleat of her Alberta Ferretti gown. The metallic hue and flowing skirt had a fairy tale quality, but it was countered by the plunging neckline.

Chiara Mastroianni: Showing some leg, the French-Italian actress was outfitted in Saint Laurent Fall 2018. The thigh-revealing silhouette is very much in the designer’s wheelhouse and helps to balance the heavily exaggerated shoulders.

Georgia May Jagger: The English beauty kept things classic in Twinset with Chopard jewels. The halter silhouette with thigh-high slit is a timeless, alluring look. It won’t end up being the most memorable style, but it did sizzle with a liquid effect.

Khadja Nin: The jury member was a delight in vivid prints. The rich colours and radiating design sing with life and carry such a regal feel. They also pay tribute to her Burundi roots.

Ava DuVernay: After wearing Prada to the jury photocall, she was back in the designer again. This was a much softer take with the emphasis being on the pleated skirt. I’m missing the bolder colours from her last outing. This was the time to make a statement and this is too quiet and it didn’t enliven her complexion.

Tallia Storm: The whimsical romance of her floral Marco & María gown was underscored by the sensuality of the embroidered bodice. It’s in keeping with her experimental style, but the bodice heels too naked especially in comparison to the voluminous skirt.

Barbara Meier: The peach tone of the German model-actress’s Hausach dress might be subdued but there wasn’t anything understated about the look with its thigh-barring slit and swirling shoulder detail. Given the impact of the silhouette, the golden belt detail and earrings weren’t necessary.
