Millie Bobby Brown In Calvin Klein by Appointment – 2018 SAG Awards

Millie Bobby Brown may be only 13 years old, but she always keeps us on our toes with her style, again rewriting her own fashion rules at the 2018 SAG Awards on Sunday (January 21) in LA.

Perhaps the ‘Stranger Things’ starlet was responding to the 13-going-on-30 comments about her mature style when she selected this look.

The pastel-pink, micro-sequin Calvin Klein by Appointment cape-back frock did have a more traditionally youthful, girly sensibility.

But, it was the styling that really added the rebellious, sprightly quality, beginning with her precious high side buns, wrapped with black ribbon, and ending with her sporty white sneakers.

A few Repossi jewels completed the nonconformist look. But, did you like her more kid-friendly jaunt?

    Here for the sneakers.

She is such a doll! I’m curious: To the peeps who say she should not have worn sneakers, What kind of shoes do you think she should have worn?

    • Schoolbea January 23, 2018 at 10:37 #

I think a pair of low or medium-heel sandals could’ve been nice, or maybe some embellished flats.

I realise the age-appropriate-ness of her looks is a great concern for the fashion-community. I never really understood that, to be honest. She never wore anything scandalous, just mildly aging.
I remember being thirteen, and I would wear similarly aging things all the time as far as I could, because I liked looking older and cooler. I don’t see how it is such an inherently bad thing for her to wear muted colours and aging patterns, fabrics and cuts, because she looks good most of the time, it’s never inappropriate or revealing, and I totally get it.
Also, if the alternative is her looking like a 90s commercial for probably unhealthy sweets, I’ll take aging anytime.

    Finally, something age-appropiate. Bravo

      + 1

Sneakers? Come on! She gets everything right, and then… I understand she has the right to have fun, and we like it when she looks her age, but it’s so in-your-face that I just can’t.

I think it bothers me more because 1) I dislike sneakers on the red carpet on anyone, and 2) I appreciate consistency of style and that’s very hard to find with this girl.

    • Leandra January 22, 2018 at 12:02 #

I think her stylist was most responding to the criticism. I’m still not sure that was the right way to go, perhaps flats would complement the look in a better way. The punkish air of the sneakers almost put me off but she is so adorable that I’ll turn a blind eye to it.

    1)She is sponsored by Converse
2)This is nowhere near my favorite red carpet look from her
3)She looks cute though, love her hair

A bit twee, but I love it. She is so young she has such an opportunity to wear fun clothes. This outfit makes me feel like she’s finally doing that.

  9. snowlioness January 22, 2018 at 05:14 #

Like a little 90’s indie kid. I think she looks fun!

    • Kimma January 22, 2018 at 10:52 #

I was thinking Baby Spice! She has the most beautiful face.

Oh for God’s sake, first it’s she looks too old and now it’s all SHE LOOKS 5. Can the girl not get a break?

    She’s always a delight IMO.

    • Nat39 January 22, 2018 at 08:39 #

I think it’s her stylist’s problem. I wrote it last year imo. her stylist doesn’t seem to be able to figure out how to dress her. Shame.

      • Maria F. January 22, 2018 at 09:43 #

        i agree.

    • Aubrey January 22, 2018 at 15:57 #

+1!! She is young and having fun with fashion – give her a break!

    • Mimmi January 22, 2018 at 17:15 #

      Well said!

  11. Ariya January 22, 2018 at 02:55 #

Love this look on her. The sneakers and side buns add sporty, rebellious edge to the look which I feel was missing from her recent looks.
A sandal would have been better but she will have plenty of time to wear those as she gets older.
Also someone please cast her in a young princess Leia movie please.

  12. Jasmine January 22, 2018 at 02:20 #

Pretty sure she is sponsored by Converse. Not a fan of the white sneaker on the red carpet with a gown.
Instead of looking like she is dressing her age, she looks like a 5 year old.

  13. JHH January 22, 2018 at 02:19 #

Love this. I agree about switching in sandals for the sneakers but I will take this sneakers and all over most of her prior outfits. She looks as my daughter said “totes adorbs.”

    • Giada January 22, 2018 at 11:34 #

  14. Caroline January 22, 2018 at 02:02 #

LOVE this but the converse are just too much, a nice pink sandal would’ve been perfect with this look.

  15. Isabela January 22, 2018 at 01:56 #

I feel like she took the criticism to the extreme. I don’t like these hair style in anyone older than 4.

    • Nat39 January 22, 2018 at 02:08 #

I feel somewhat the same…that hair, the sneakers…what is she..5??

  16. Ana January 22, 2018 at 01:46 #

YES! Finally a cute age-appropriate look! She’ll have plenty of time to be in elegant gowns later on in life.

  17. Chris January 22, 2018 at 01:39 #

    Cute! Love the sneakers!

  18. EmmaWoodhouse January 22, 2018 at 01:35 #

I’m beaming…this is so cute. The dress has an athletic, fashion-forward feel that suits her. The sneakers give it a cool-kid edge. And her hair was adorable (and made me hope, once again, that she’ll be cast as young Princess Leia one of these days).

    • Amanda F January 22, 2018 at 02:28 #

      +1 I totally agree

  19. VG January 22, 2018 at 01:33 #

Lol I just finished commenting on her “mature” style in her previous post and then she comes with this!
This is much better! It’s age appropiate and cute. I love the hair and I especially love the sneakers…

  20. Meme January 22, 2018 at 01:31 #

At least she looks like a kid.

    • Lashae January 22, 2018 at 01:39 #

I’m not fond of the dress (I hate the back) but she looks age appropriate

      • Maria F. January 22, 2018 at 09:43 #

+2 I would have preferred the look without the tail.

  21. Hisadora January 22, 2018 at 01:30 #

cute cute cute!!!!! I also loved her everyone-hated little dress from before but this is so cute I can’t handle

  22. Nat39 January 22, 2018 at 01:30 #

Cute but I can’t with the white sneakers any more!!! They have no business to be there with that dress or on the red carpet!
