Jessica Chastain In Vionnet – 2018 Critics’ Choice Awards

Jessica Chastain attended the 2018 Critics’ Choice Awards on Thursday (January 11) in Santa Monica, California, as a Best Actress nominee.

Now, there has been an air of discontent when it comes to Jessica’s red carpet style of late, with many believing that she can do so much better.

Bold colours is what her red carpet style was built on, so I was delighted to see her wearing this Vionnet Spring 2018 emerald green halter gown.

The mood is effortless and carefree. I sense that she really loved the gown.

My feeling is that some will take issue with the keyhole, but she looks radiant to me.

Red hair and a green dress has always been a winning formula.

Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Harmony’ sandals and Piaget jewels completed her look.

The dress is so unflattering for her kinda squary body type, enhancing the lack of waist and her short torso. The color is fantastic against her complexion but the shape it’s a big no.

I adore the color on her, with her hair, and I think the styling was easy and fit well with the dress. I don’t love the dress. The cutout, the aggressive bodice-shaping…I think there’s a nice idea but it didn’t work out in the final design.

    I love this!

How can she go wrong with this colour?

      impossible x

The color is stunning against her hair and a breath of fresh air after the golden globes, but the silhouette is not at all flattering on her.

Usually, I like looks better after I see the closeups but in this case, this looks much better in the larger pictures. The fabric seems odd in the closeup and you can really see that this dress other than the color is not very flattering on Jessica.

She looks great in green and this is no different. I appreciate the change in silhouette from her. But the bust design is quite unflattering on her.

Ohh FINALLY she delivered something up to her status. She looks amazing, like a modern-day version of Antheia, goddess of the forests and flowery wreaths. Up to that, she lost a tiny bit of weight too( at least to my eyes) and she looks radiant.

well, thankfully she didn’t wear the runway version. Love the color but not the dress.

    Not her best.
The color is of course lovely but nothing new on her. The flow-y skirt is delightful but the bodice is a little unflattering or awkward.
I love that its lined of course.
Idk, something just seems to be flat.

I love the colour on her and even with the lining the dress still feels floaty and fun.

I’ve missed her in green. Aside from the cutout, I’d say she
is working this look, I like this on her for this event

Love this! That shade of green with her hair colour is super dreamy 🙂

  14. Iva January 12, 2018 at 13:01 #

This color suits her very well, unlike the bodice of the dress.

The keyhole ruins this for me, because I keep thinking that the dress is actually some kind of robe that opens up in the middle. It’s distracting.

I also dislike the silhouette. Buuuuut… the fabric and colour are amazing on her. Too much on the good side, too much on the bad side.

  16. Caroline January 12, 2018 at 12:10 #

I like the color and hair but the dress seems shapeless and unflattering.

+1 it looks really awkward on her

again, i agree. Also the loose waves of her hair compete with the halter neck.

The only thing i really like is the colour of the dress which is devine with her hair and complexion and the make up is also really good.

Not feeling this gown at all unfortunately. The colour is divine on her but there is a WHOLE LOTTA STUFF going on here – the overly large keyhole, the worked bodice, the pleated skirt. Obviously we would never (want to) see the runway version on the red carpet, but it has a wonderful lightness that Jessica’s version does not have. She should slick to sleek, simple and modern looks.

    Ahhh, finally! Colors for everyone!!

I love this! Her hair and makeup are flawless and that colour on her… WIN!
