Front Row @ Rodarte Spring 2018

It was Rodarte designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy’s first time to show in Paris, and their Spring 2018 presentation on Sunday (July 2) during Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week featured a trio of stars who were in attendance to take in the garden-centric setting.

Kirsten Dunst: I loved seeing this Fall 2017 blouse and skirt stripped down from its more overwrought original presentation, as it allowed the romantic side of its edgy, gothic beauty to shine. While a sleeker bun would have not gotten in the way of the ruffled, tulle shoulders, her curls did bring a relaxed femininity to the look that I could appreciate.

Brie Larson: Keeping the Rodarte jewels, including the highly decorative, statement earrings and bracelet, intact, Brie likewise embraced the darker whimsy of this Fall 2017 spidery lace dress. I am glad she nixed the boots in favour of a sleeker sandal.

Tracee Ellis Ross: Tracee can always be relied upon to embrace a quirky style viewpoint, but I couldn’t get on board with this black-and-white Fall 2016 lace dress—most especially because of her unusual selection of the beige Fall 2017 motorcycle jacket in ditzy florals that she wore atop it. Rodarte jewels in the form of that singular earring only made the look more clunky and confused.
