Z LaLa In Merlin Castell – 2015 MTV Video Music Awards #VMAs

Z LaLa In Merlin Castell - 2015 MTV Video Music Awards #VMAs

Z LaLa attended the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards at the Microsoft Theater on Sunday (August 30) in Los Angeles, California.

The singer, who has only just come to my attention, must have turned heads walking the red carpet wearing this gold Merlin Castell gown, which at first I thought was a Christian Dior by John Galliano Spring 2004 Couture gown.

Some might immediately liken her to Lady Gaga from this elaborate look, but I would say there is a serenity around Z LaLa which I never feel with a Gaga look.

Pushing the envelope further with extended lashes on the side of her face and gold talons, she completed the look with a cone hairstyle.

I have to say I really like the look. It’s creative, unlike the barely there looks we have seen so far; unique and memorable.

Don´t you miss Dior by John Galliano? I know that he had some mistakes in the past but we can´t deny that his creations were from another world. I really want some of this back, so this look really made me happy.

That doesn’t look like the real piece.

It looks intriguing on the runway and rather elegant but a giant sloppy mess on her. The fabric is all just bunched up in a tangled mess.
I have never heard of her before but all I thought was ‘Really? Another Gaga? Copy much?’

Nothing more than over-the-top flashy-ness and bad taste, the ridiculous styling really takes it overboard.

    I’m shocked. Thank you

    It is a knock-off…
According to Merlin Castell’s Instagram , it is “designed” by him.

The hairdo appeared in a 1992 HK movie, inspired by a Chinese hairstyle from around the Wei Dynasty 220-265AD. The European designers copied from this:

This is a good look for such an event !
I’m glad to see something different, the dress looks better on the runway though.

First thing I thought was Lady Gaga. It’s definitely creative but that’s all I can say.

  12. Guest May 8, 2019 at 6:29 pm #

I hadn’t seen this yet. A bit crazy over the top and Gaga-like indeed… But I do like it and take it over most of the other looks from the event.

Some pieces are better left in presentations or photoshoots.

Dior by John Galliano was out of this world! Dior by Raf Simons is, ugh, I can’t even begin with…. I sometimes feel sorry for the brand ambassadors, having to wear Raf’s designs….

This is of course wackadoo for the red carpet but man does it show the decline in the quality of Dior. THIS is what the brand should still be. As crazy as it is, no one can say it isn’t interesting and uniquely beautiful.

  21. Guest May 8, 2019 at 6:29 pm #

Exactly my point…. Dior has lost it ever since they fired Galliano….
