Emma Watson was also among the starry mix at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards, held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California on Sunday (January 12).
The young actress had me in complete amazement at her Christian Dior Couture outing—one that I would have never predicted. Lupita Nyong’o wasn’t the only one having a red-haute night.
From the front, Emma’s ribbon-tie dress was a classic standard—even borderline uninspiring. Of course, that’s before the thigh-high slit came into focus and the true backless nature of the design was revealed.
Contrasting the languid fluidity of the gown were black skinny, cropped trousers and a sassy pair of violet-blue Roger Vivier ‘Ergo Sexy’ pumps.
The boundaries-pushing trends didn’t stop there. She completed the effect with one Dior ‘Mise en Dior’ earring: two over-sized pearls decorating her left lobe.
While her ensemble may have pushed the envelope, her hair and makeup was downright pretty with her light magenta lip and sleekly effortless bun.
She’s young; this is fashion fun; so why not throw a bit of shock and awe around. What do you make of her head-turning entrance?

Absolutely adore this from the back, however the front is lacking for me. I just wish it were a little more streamlined with a nicer belt and Emma to pull up in her posture a bit more. That would have made it ten times better (also I find the front slit very distracting)
Wonderful, just wonderful. So fresh and exciting. And I am really not a fan of miss Watson. But this time she rocked it.
Love this look. Totally outside of the box and completely overrides the textbook gowns and glitter. This is who JLaw should look to when wearing Dior.

Adore the drama in the back but find it to heavy and slightly matronly in the front. Still its nice to see her take the risk plus I love a bold colour and her hair and makeup is gorge!
Ahh I love how Emma Watson has carved out a beautiful, sophisticated yet edgy and fashion forward style niche at such a young age! And as someone said below, she wears Dior so much better than J-Law ever has! I just think it’s that waif-like quality and very gamine, European features (that both Natalie and Marion possess) that suits Dior so perfectly.
Get Jen a Victoria Beckham/Stella McCartney contract and replace her with Emma Watson for Dior- trying to make everyone happy haha

AMAZING! I love this. At first glance, its confusing but I love how unique it is. And Emma kills it. She kept it simple and didn’t over accessorize.
Definitely my #1 best dressed of the night followed by Lupita, Cate Blanchett, Emma Thompson, and Julia Roberts.

For someone who’s there to just present an award I think this is a very interesting choice that she managed to pull off. It felt good to like a Dior look again. I also quite like the shoes and the lippie. Thumbs up for me.

also its hard to tell how glorious this really is without seeing her move in it on tv. i could see how many think its odd or boring from the flat picture. it took my breath away when i saw her entrance though

This is is shocking to me too, but in a terrible way. A total miss in my book. Unfortunate because she has been looking so modern and fresh lately. This looks like something a midwestern housewife would pick up at the mall thinking it’s “fashionable” and “different.”

Awful. It looks like she is wearing yoga pants! Its very matronly, especially the sad little belt and her blah hair. I had really hoped for more especially since this is her first major awards appearance.

I love this look very much! Emma is young and isn’t a nominee tonight, so why not have fun and just be a little different? It’s still very feminine, which suits her overall style sense.

She is working it! I wouldn’t have loved this ensemble on everybody, but Emma totally won me over and is one of my favourites tonight.
Shock is fine if it actually looks good. Somehow there is some shock but mostly I find this drab and lacks any oomph. Not even close to being a contender for best dressed.
