Jena Malone In Nicholas Oakwell Couture - 'The Hunger Games Cathching Fire' LA Premiere

Jena Malone looked beautiful while attending the LA premiere of ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ held at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California on Monday evening.

Opting for yet another embellished, dramatic gown, the actress wore a Nicholas Oakwell Spring 2012 Couture gold ombre gown.

The gown is breathtaking in the long shot, but in the close up it doesn’t do what it’s supposed to do: create an illusion.

It’s a sexy take on the illusion trend, but when you see the seams in the close up that sex appeal is somewhat nullified.

Working the teenage brow, Jena was quite the golden girl, styling her look with a gold Jimmy Choo clutch and a gold manicure.

Do the obvious illusion panels bother you, or are you too blown away by this look to care?

It’s a beautiful dress. It’s a shame the illusion panels don’t hold up that well up close. I’m not a fan of the straight hair on her, though given the minimalist style of the dress, it makes sense.

OBSESSED with this dress! I’m surprised how much I love it, but she’s really selling it to me, and it’s sheer without being jennifer lawrence-sheer.

I don’t like it as much as I would like to, but I think it’s still a great look. Wish she wore some J.Mendel like that time at the Emmy awards though.

      Or Cushnie et Ochs

Daring, sleek and glamorous, this is easily my fave look from Jena, she owns it, I can forgive the seams.

It’s an interesting gown and Jena carries it off with aplomb but even I agree about the illusion panel at the back. Not a good sight but I like the whole presentation.

This works for her even though the illusion seams are a bit klunky. She looks good.

I want to love this, but something is a bit off with the placement of the sheer panels vs. fabric. Perhaps the skirt starts too low because of her height? The attitude she’s working is killing it, though!

In the long shot i loved it but even in the close up i like it. But why are they wearing sheer dresses in November. Aren’t they cold? They couldn’t wait till spring?

I don’t like this look. I don’t like the gown or her makeup.

Well, I don’t really like the dress, but she doesn’t look bad in it.

+1 Not liking this either but agreed.

The broken illusion bothers me mucho, unfortuantely. Otherwise I like the gold for her and am glad she went for slicker hair the past few days.

On the upside, I like the gold fabric. Kinda tired of body-baring looks. Completely dislike her hair. An interesting look, it holds my attention.

I don’t really think any part of this look. The dress isn’t great and her eyebrows are much too over done.

The illusion panels do bother me in the close ups, but I still think that she looks great. I agree with Mandy, at least we don’t see her belly button.

  15. Noemi November 19, 2013 at 8:29 am #

I’m not crazy about the dress, but most of all I dislike hair and make up.

I really like how the dress covers Jena’s belly button, it’s a more sophisticated placement then the models. Overall a great look.

First off, I find that overly-filled-in brow quite distracting. Second, you are right FC, the ‘illusion’ is lacking in many ways/angles–especially that side shot where it buckles in the back. BUT….this is still a gorgeous look. In the majority of the pictures, especially the ones from a further distance, obvi, she looks quite glamorous and beautiful.
