Milla Jovovich In Prada – ‘Cleopatra’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Milla Jovovich In Prada - 'Cleopatra' Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Milla Jovovich was back on the red carpet this evening attending the ‘Cleopatra’ Cannes Film Festival premiere held at the 60th Anniversary Theatre this evening in France.

We love Miuccia Prada, but she can’t make a gown. This was evident when Florence Welch attended the premiere for ‘The Great Gatsby’ last week, and here we have another poor attempt at creating a gown worthy of the occasion.

The gown features a loose black silk spaghetti strapped top with a navy embellished skirt, which would look better as a bed throw.

It is just an unflattering heap.

As I say every Cannes Film Festival, No Miuccia, NO.

Honest to god, when I saw this the first thought that popped into my head was “is it garbage day?” She is wearing a bedazzled Hefty bag.

I love this gown is amazing. One of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. Milla is quite flatchested, and it totally Works for her, she got the atitude. She is even more attractive than those who show off they’re big boobs.

  3. Beta May 22, 2013 at 12:36 #

I also wish Mila would get rid of those bangs

  4. EmmaWoodhouse May 22, 2013 at 12:31 #

The skirt is an interesting design but VERY poorly executed. The top is a limp, saggy, overly revealing mess. No more Prada gowns, please!

  5. Ariel May 22, 2013 at 12:08 #

    Amqazing woman, ugly dress!

  6. rubber duck May 22, 2013 at 06:40 #

i think this dress is not that bad…. it’s not boring at least

  7. George May 22, 2013 at 05:43 #

Sigh…. Next time Mila, stay away from Muccia.

  8. Alicat May 22, 2013 at 03:15 #

She is doing her damnedest to sell it, but it is unsaleable. That almost handkerchief like bib top is a disaster waiting to happen. Let’s hope nobody sneezes in her vicinity.

  9. Sharon May 22, 2013 at 00:34 #

Miuccia may not be a great gown designer, but she must be one heck of a saleswoman. Milla’s face is so lovely and her hair is beautiful and then . . . what a shame.

I really like the idea of this, but it feels like it doesn’t fit her quite right. It almost looks a size too big, or like the skirt is too heavy for the top, and it’s pulling it down.

  11. Fanny May 21, 2013 at 22:57 #

The one thing I don’t like about the dress is the fabric of the bodice, the rest I actually like. I kinda wish that the whole dress was made of the “bed throw” fabric haha.

  12. Rebecca Z May 21, 2013 at 22:08 #

Wow–from the top to the bottom of the heap in a single day. At least Rosario Dawson went the other direction.

  13. Leela May 21, 2013 at 21:54 #

It looks like they took a sari and made a skirt out of it quickly in half an hour.

  14. Christina May 21, 2013 at 21:33 #

Actually, I love this dress! I particularly love that I haven’t seen anything else like it on the red carpet. She pulls it off stunningly.

  15. Southern Cross May 21, 2013 at 21:28 #

I like the skirt part, and I think that it could have actually been an amazing dress had the top part been made somewhat differently. I’m envisaging a criss-cross of fabric, with the beads/stones at the shoulders. As it is, I just worry about the potential for nakedness with every breeze. I don’t trust that flap of dark grey fabric to stay in place! But Milla is beautiful and the hair and makeup I really like.

    • Noemi May 21, 2013 at 21:39 #

I agree with you about everything. She looks stunning, great make up.

  16. liz May 21, 2013 at 20:57 #

Holy ribs, Batman!!! I wouldn’t want a dress to emphasize my ribs more than anything else, to be honest.

  17. Irene May 21, 2013 at 20:47 #

She probably needed a lot of tape

  18. Dirk May 21, 2013 at 19:29 #

Ah, FC, i feel so close to you right now with Prada making terrible gowns. Lena Dunham, Anne Hathaway and now Milla have all got burned by Prada.

    • Catherine Kallon May 21, 2013 at 20:54 #

      that list is endless.

      • EmmaWoodhouse May 22, 2013 at 12:30 #

        Berenice Bejo last year…LOL

  19. Saosao May 21, 2013 at 19:27 #

Milla is beautiful but her body looks skinny and flat in this dress it nearly scares me, and the dress is painful to look at. I love her shoes though..

  20. Moxie May 21, 2013 at 19:22 #

She’s working that look, but dang that is an ugly dress. The skirt is not that bad, but the top… fugly.

    She has raccoon eyes.

  21. Catherine May 21, 2013 at 19:19 #

I completely disagree that Miuccia Prada can’t create a beautiful gown! Prada and Miu Miu are often very successful on the red carpet. This definitely isn’t my favorite, but the 2012 Costume Institute Gala featured many spectacular Prada designs, both cocktail dresses and gowns. Also, I would love to thank you, FC, for your amazing coverage. I love your blog!

  22. Nat May 21, 2013 at 19:15 #

    One word: hideous

  23. Lyvm May 21, 2013 at 19:14 #

She truly is one of the world’s most beautiful women. Even this unflattering cut looks sexy on her! The styling- makeup, hair- it’s all perfect. I say she rocks this dress. Shabby chic becomes her.

  24. Lara May 21, 2013 at 19:12 #

I’m sorry, but this is God-awful. Not even Milla can save this! I clicked in to see more views of this, and wished I hadn’t. It is unflattering from EVERY single angle!

    • Christine May 22, 2013 at 05:18 #

      Terrible beyond belief. Madness!

  25. Marybeth May 21, 2013 at 19:06 #

Well, the styling is great. Love the hair and make-up. I love the color palette too. Milla has a wonderful presence.

    The dress? Aaaaaaaaccccckkkk!

  26. lucas May 21, 2013 at 19:00 #

the gown is ugly, but DAMN, this girl know how to work a sexy dress.

  27. Sarah May 21, 2013 at 18:57 #

It looks amazing. She looks amazing. I’ve seen all the photos from the event and this is one of the best looks I’ve seen in the whole Cannes run. it’s edgy, sophisticated— it’s a bit flapper, a bit futuristic. Love it.

  28. Olivia May 21, 2013 at 18:57 #

It feels oddly 90’s for some reason. I does have the air of a student fashion projects to it though. That said, I don’t hate it but perhaps that’s because Milla is WEARING it as opposed to it wearing her.

    • snowlion May 23, 2013 at 16:46 #

That’s what I was going to say…a 90s throwback, but I think it should be thrown back 😀

  29. Lola May 21, 2013 at 18:56 #

Well…i have to agree with you. It might have seemed like a good idea… – but mon dieu! No one can take Millas beauty away but this dress is certainly not adding to it.
Thank you for your extensive and fantastic coverage of Cannes, what a tremendous amount of work it must have been. Please know that it is greatly appreciated.

  30. dee May 21, 2013 at 18:55 #

I like everything neck up but neck down this is tragic.

  31. malinda jane May 21, 2013 at 18:54 #

    This is so incomprehensibly horrible.
If you can even make a SUPERMODEL look like a complete disaster then you might want to rethink things.

I mean, this “gown” is really just a bedazzled apron.

    • CreoleLady May 21, 2013 at 18:58 #

      LOL, too true, too true…

  32. Nat39 May 21, 2013 at 18:53 #

The gown is tragic. Love Milla’s attitude.

  33. Yeliz May 21, 2013 at 18:52 #

I dislike this a lot. The top is way too revealing for my tastes and yes, that skirt would look better as a bed throw.

  34. Jumai May 21, 2013 at 18:51 #

    I actually like it!

    • MissCru May 22, 2013 at 02:09 #

I like it too! It’s not the worst Prada gown, I’ve seen worse. With Milla’s attitude, she totally sells it. BOTD? Hell no, but at least it’s not boring.
