Get The Look: Halle Berry’s Emmy Awards Soft Smoky Beauty Look

Halle Berry Emmys Makeup

Halle Berry was the picture of true elegance at the 2014 Emmy Awards (August 25th). Gliding along the red carpet in a stunning Elie Saab gown, celebrity makeup artist, Kara Yoshimoto Bua, was deeply inspired by the soft dusty rose tones of the dress.

Keeping with its fluidity and soft nature, Kara created a look that highlighted these stunning aspects. She emphasizes that choosing a proper shadow tone is crucial in achieving a specific look.

“To create a softer and sexier smoky eye, stay away from dark greys and blacks and use warm browns and burgundies with red undertones that compliment all skin tones,” says Kara.

Here’s how you can recreate this irresistible look yourself:

SKIN
Prep: For a richly hydrated foundation, Kara moisturized Halle’s skin with CHANEL Sublimage La Crème Yeux.

Foundation: Once prepped, she evened out Halle’s skin with CHANEL Perfection Lumière Long-Wear Flawless Fluid Sunscreen Makeup SPF 15 in 60 Beige. For a more shapely and multifaceted effect, Kara contoured her face with the same foundation in shade 104 Ambre.

Cheeks: Kara highlighted Halle’s cheekbones with REVLON Highlighting Palette in Peach Glow and applied REVLON Cream Blush in Pinched to her cheeks for a brightened flush of color.

EYES
Kara primed Halle’s lid with REVLON PhotoReady Primer + Shadow in Metropolitan and blended REVLON ColorStay 16H Eye Shadow Quad in Adventurous on her lids. She followed by defining the eyes with REVLON Luxurious Color Eye Liner Pencil in Sueded Brown and neatly smudged it out along the lash lines. For a final eye framing effect, Kara layered REVLON Growluscious Mascara in Black on her lashes.

Kara proceed with a clean grooming of Halle’s brows. She use CHANEL Crayon Sourcils Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil in Blond Clair on the brows for a defined yet natural finish. She topped the eyes by gently blending CHANEL Eclat Lumière Highlighter Face Pen in 50 Medium Deep along the under eye for a eye opening highlight.

LIPS
For the perfect nude pout, Kara first applied REVLON ColorBurst Lacquer Balm in Ingenue to Halle’s lips and followed with a generous coat of CHANEL Glossimer in Sweet Beige.

Get The Look: Emmy Awards Red Carpet Ready Skin

Emmys Skin

Hair and makeup artists aren’t the only experts who make sure celebrities are ready for the cameras during award shows. Their dermatologists also play a big role in prepping for red carpet appearances.

Harold A. Lancer, MD FAAD is a favorite amongst celebs and it’s clear to see why. His procedures and products have been used on Hollywood’s most famous faces and bodies. At this year’s Emmy Awards two of the many celebs he worked with were Sofia Vergara, and Julianna Margulies. With his help the ladies were picture perfect for the evening.

Sofia Vergara prepped her skin for the red carpet with the Venus Concept Legacy treatment. It’s a non-surgical body contouring, cellulite reduction, and skin tightening remedy. There are three different types of Venus Treatments the Swan, Freeze, Legacy. Each treatment works with, “Multi-polar radio frequencies which cause a thermal reaction that stimulates the body’s natural healing response.” The fast result make it a celebrity fave before important events.

The secret to Julianna Margulies’ skin starts with Dr. Lancer’s three-step method: polish, cleanse, and nourish. The Method focuses on the dermis and allows the skin to repair itself. Most skincare routines recommend that you exfoliate the skin last, but Dr. Lancer’s process is reversed, as he believes that products will work more effectively if the skin is first exfoliated.

Sounds like the beginning of a flawless selfie.

Emmy Awards Beauty Trend Spotting: The New Nude Lip

Emmy Awards Beauty Trend Spotting The New Nude Lip

This isn’t the traditional nude that camouflages your lips, making them unnoticeable. The new nude lips actually accentuate the natural tones of your skin allowing lips to pop in the subtlest way. Take cue from Julia Roberts, Kerry Washington, Lizzy Caplan, and Natalie Dorimer who were amongst the many celebs that flaunted the updated au naturel trend on the red carpet at the 2014 Emmy Awards.

Carole Gonzalez balanced Kerry Washington’s navy smokey eye with an updated nude lip. Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Warm Caramel was used to make her neutral pout pop. The shimmering shade provides sheer wash of color and is ideal for complexions with warm undertones. When choosing a nude it’s important to pay attention to your skin’s undertones.

Los Angeles based celebrity makeup artist, Jake Bailey played up the flesh tones on Natalie Dorimer. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide- On Lip Pencil in Naked was used to line her lips. You can even make more room in your clutch and leave this one at home. This waterproof liner will get you through the entire evening. It also doubles as a primer to prep lips for lipstick or a gloss.

Bailey topped off Dorimer’s look with L’Oreal Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain in Pink Perseverance. This shade works well on those who have cool undertones and it won’t leave lips feeling dry like other stains.

TV Presenters @ The 2014 Emmy Awards

Louise Roe in Monique Lhuillier - 2014 Emmy Awards

Here are the final three looks from the Emmys red carpet on Monday evening (August 25), from those ladies who asked that all-important question: “Who are you wearing?”

Louise Roe: The British TV star and journalist was my favourite of the bunch. With her statuesque model height and beauty, she was radiant wearing a Monique Lhuillier Spring 2014 floral-brushstroke-printed strapless tufted ball gown. Impeccably styled, as we would expect from Louise, she accessorized with Monique Lhuillier ‘Avril’ coral slingbacks, an Edie Parker ‘Minnie’ nude pearl and gold confetti clutch and Martin Katz jewels.

2014 Emmy Awards Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

2014 Emmy Awards Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

While the constellation of actresses on the scene at the 2014 Emmy Awards had all of us focused on the range of red-carpet gowns and glam, there was plenty more eye candy to be had with the men in the mix at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California on Monday night (August 25).

Matthew McConaughey: Not one to ever be a shrinking violet, the ‘True Detective’ actor and nominee suited up in a bold blue Dolce & Gabbana three-piece suit with contrasting black lapels, paired with Christian Louboutin ‘New Orleans’ flats, and a Bulgari watch and cufflinks. Was it my favourite look of his? Perhaps not. It even drew ‘A Night at the Roxbury’ comparisons among the Twitter-verse. But, with that handsome gaze, he can pull off anything.

Aaron Paul: The ‘Breaking Bad’ Emmy winner couldn’t have accepted his trophy in more classic fashion. He wore top-to-toe Prada in a black kid-mohair tuxedo, with a two-button notch-lapel design and velvet trim on the collar. A white smoking silk shirt, black bowtie and black spazzolato lace-up shoes, plus a Bulgari timepiece, completed the look.

Ty Burrell: Channeling his own blue mood, the ‘Modern Family’ Emmy winner wore a custom Todd Snyder tuxedo that was made especially for his big night. The Italian wool design was a collaborative effort between Ty, his stylist, Ilaria Urbinati, and the designer and boasts a unique shade of blue called ‘dusk,’ which nicely updates the tux from the more standard colourways of black and navy.
