Viola Davis In Zac Posen – 2017 Emmy Awards

Viola Davis was in a sunshine state of mind at the 2017 Emmy Awards on Sunday (September 17). She joined Angela Sarafyan and channelled a joyful summer spirit.

The custom Zac Posen gown enhanced the warmth in the ‘How to Get Away with Murder’ actress’s complexion.

While many will have tangerine dreams about the dress, Viola added a more pumpkin spice touch with her darker makeup, gold clutch and scarlet nail polish.

Harry Winston jewels were the finishing touch.

Keri Russell In J. Mendel – 2017 Emmy Awards

Keri Russell attended the 2017 Emmy Awards on Sunday (September 17) in Los Angeles.

For the big night, Keri chose a J. Mendel Resort 2018 gown and geometric earrings.

This is one of those subtle gowns that kind of sneaks up on you. At first glance, it’s just a long, black gown, but would you look at those details? The lace and feathers are both dramatic and understated at once, and Keri brings this to life perfectly.

Her loose waves and simple makeup are the perfect pairing for this look and it all reminds us that sometimes, a second glance gives you plenty of excitement.

Laverne Cox In Naeem Khan – 2017 Emmy Awards

Nominated for her work in ‘Orange Is the New Black,’ Laverne Cox attended the 2017 Emmy Awards on Sunday (September 17) in LA.

The actress loves to channel total glamour, and she put an elongated version of this gunmetal-metallic Naeem Khan Fall 2017 gown to work for her—and the girls.

Generally, I like the slinky sexiness that Laverne serves up, as it’s done with a polished, elegant edge.

Here, I struggled a bit to fully get on board with the look and its patchwork, tonal silver panels. I also wish she had opted for a sleeker, hairstyle to elevate the effect.

What about you?

You may remember that Elle Fanning wore the runway version.

Evan Rachel Wood In Jeremy Scott for Moschino – 2017 Emmy Awards

‘Westworld’ star and Best Actress nominee Evan Rachel Wood was at the 2017 Emmy Awards on Sunday (September 17) in LA.

Often gravitating towards looks with a sharp sense of precision, she attained that with this custom Jeremy Scott for Moschino menswear-influenced suiting ensemble.

While the look did translate some of the designer’s signature penchant for exaggeration in the shrunken jacket and vest piece, I love how the monochromatic white colour palette increased the overall sophistication factor.

The flowy, wide-leg pants could have even been mistaken for a long skirt from afar, which increased the glamour and femininity of the look—as did her gorgeous, desert-tinged makeup and earrings.

A Jimmy Choo ‘Cay’ clutch and Salvatore Ferragamo heels completed the look.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw In BOSS – 2017 Emmy Awards

Gugu Mbatha-Raw is one I look forward to seeing on the red carpet. Happily, the actress’s appearance at the 2017 Emmy Awards on Sunday (September 17) was certainly worth the wait.

This yellow-green is not a colour that we frequently see on the red carpet, but the bespoke BOSS dress was absolutely dazzling on her. The striking shade enhanced the golden tones in her skin while the textured fabric photographed beautifully.

The coordinating drop earrings and hint of electric lining just visible through the strapless gown’s slits made the outfit even more alluring.

Jimmy Choo ‘Vibe’ sandals were a perfect ending to the ensemble.

Thandie Newton In Jason Wu – 2017 Emmy Awards

Thandie Newton made quite the entrance at the 2017 Emmy Awards on Sunday (September 17).

The actress is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress – Drama Series for her work in ‘Westworld,’ and she looked every inch the nominee in a custom Jason Wu gown.

The dusty mauve colour coupled with the sequined skirt could have veered into prom territory or come across as too sweet. However, Thandie’s dangling chandelier earrings and bun brought an effortless elegance to the ensemble. I particularly love the injection of black nail polish.

The fit of the strapless bodice is also a clear indicator that the gown was masterfully tailored for her.

Do you have this on your best dressed list, too?
