Alexa Chung In Valentino - International Woolmark Prize

Alongside style legends Frida Giannini and Franca Sozzani, Alexa Chung turned judge during Milan Fashion Week as she and other fashion stars chose the winner of the hotly anticipated 2014 International Woolmark Prize.

Wearing a Valentino Pre-Fall 2014 cape dress cut across her shoulders and printed with intricate butterflies, the look was a refreshing update on Alexa’s usual preppy feminine style and I thought it was great to see her try new prints.

Typically, Alexa’s styling was minimal but it was great to see her hair blow-dried and her signature lick of eyeliner complemented the 60s feel of the dress.

To finish, Alexa chose a pair of nude strappy suede pumps. While they ensure the cape isn’t over-styled, to me the colour is just wrong. A pair of black and maroon pumps would have been so much more in-keeping and would have added an extra dimension to this look which I think it really needs. Do you agree?

Naomie Harris In Valentino Pre-Fall - NAACP Awards 2014

Naomie Harris was every bit the golden goddess at the NAACP Image Awards 2014 on Saturday (February 22), which was hosted at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, California.

The ‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom’ actress and nominee positively dazzled in a lacy sheer-effect Valentino Pre-Fall 2014 gold-leaf gown.

Both delicate and dramatic, the plunge-front dress was positively sublime—especially when combined with Naomie’s gorgeous long waves and softly hued, radiant nude makeup.

Not requiring much to make this metallic confection come alive, she accessorized simply with minimal H. Stern jewels, an octagaonal Rauwolf bag and Jimmy Choo heels.

This look had every bit of the magical Midas touch. Do you agree?

BAFTA men

Ruth Wilson and Angelina Jolie weren’t the only ones suiting up for the 2014 BAFTAs on Sunday (February 16) held at The Royal Opera House in London, England.

Eddie Redmayne: Our Best Dressed Man of 2013 was one of the presenters on the night. He didn’t let us down looking very dapper wearing a Gucci black one button peak lapel Marseille tuxedo with a white evening shirt, black silk bow tie and black patent leather lace ups. His beautiful plus one, Hannah Bagshawe, was also decked out in Gucci Pre-Fall 2013.

Brad Pitt: The actor wore a Valentino tuxedo styled with a black bow-tie. Frankly, I prefer Angelina’s look over his. I don’t get the collarless shirt.

Gwei Lun Mei In Valentino - Berlin Film Festival Closing Ceremony

The eternally elegant Gewi Lun Mei attended the Berlin Film Festival Closing Ceremony yesterday evening (February 15).

Wearing a midnight blue lace Valentino Spring 2014 gown with sheer panelling and maroon and aqua green lace detailing, the pretty actress looked simply beautiful.

While the dress had originally been styled in a much more bohemian style on the catwalk, Gwei switched it up and created an almost regal stance.

All Gwei needed to accessorize was a pair of delicate diamond drop earrings and hair swept away from her shoulders for an impactful and graceful look.

To me, this is a masterclass in feminine red carpet dressing.

Lupita Nyong'o In Valentino Couture - 13th Annual AARP's Movies for Grownups Awards Gala

Lupita Nyong’o attended the 13th Annual AARP’s Movies for Grownups Awards Gala held at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel on Monday (February 10) in Beverly Hills, California following the Academy Awards Nominees Luncheon.

Opting for a smooth mocha satin dress from the Valentino Fall 2013 Couture collection, you would be forgiven if you thought this look was Cushnie et Ochs as their signature dresses feature the same cut-out neckline and spaghetti strap detailing.

This look is much improved over the Dior frock, but that wouldn’t have been too much of a stretch.

Keeping the one-tone look, she opted for matching sandals, thankfully leaving the Paul Andrews pumps at home. She did opt for a contrasting colour via her matte red lip.
