Models @ The 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards

It was all cheekbones and centre-partings as models descended on the 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards on Monday (June 5) in New York City.

Bella Hadid: The model is a fan of flashing flesh but kept it sophisticated in this blazer-style dress from Off-White Fall 2017. Top marks for the flared sleeves and retro full fringe. We’ll ignore the pale pink lunch bag style clutch.

Maye Musk: I do love the humour and personality in this Rosie Assoulin Spring 2017 dress. It’s unashamedly extroverted and doesn’t apologise for its bling accessories courtesy of Atelier Swarovski Fine Jewelry.

Karen Elson: Ah, red and green a hallowed combination that almost never goes wrong. Unfortunately, the tried and tested combo falls short here. The Anna Sui Fall 2017 dress is a confusing array of frills, draping, and puff sleeves. Combined with heavy shoes, this look is overwhelmingly bad.

Nicole Kidman In Oscar de la Renta – 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards

With Nicole Kidman’s masterful turn at Cannes Film Festival is still fresh on everyone’s mind, she continued her fashion crusade at the CFDA Fashion Awards in New York City on Monday (June 5).

The actress’ Cannes looks were romantic and whimsical, but her CDFA Fashion Awards style showed us a return to old-school Hollywood glamour.

It was nice to see fashion’s first lady refine her look, but her Oscar de la Renta Fall 2017 gown was let down by poor styling choices.

I would’ve loved Nicole to have taken note from the catwalk styling. A slicked back hairstyle and dramatic drop earrings would have injected some much-needed drama.

Lacklustre hair and uninspired Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Dionne’ sandals did little to bring cohesion to what seemed like a confused ensemble. I can’t wait to see a return to Nicole’s daring Cannes style.

Blake Lively In Oscar de la Renta – American Ballet Theatre Spring 2017 Gala

While we’re disappointed that Blake Lively doesn’t appear to be heading to Cannes this year, she did make an appearance at the American Ballet Theatre Spring 2017 Gala on Monday (May 22) in New York City.

Displaying the feminine delicacy we love, Blake’s beautifully draped Oscar de la Renta Fall 2017 gown is cut from an eye-catching neon citrine silk chiffon which is as sunny as the actress’ personality.

I love the turquoise Lorraine Schwartz earrings for and additional pop of colour, but I was kinda underwhelmed in the hair department as it feels a tad too casual for this look.

Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudist’ sandals provided the finishing touch.

Elisabeth Moss In Emilia Wickstead & Oscar de la Renta – ‘The Square’ Cannes Film Festival Photocall & Premiere

Elisabeth Moss attended the 2017 Cannes Film Festival photocall and premiere for ‘The Square’ on Saturday (May 20).

Photocall: Completely in tune with the bright, summery surroundings, this Emilia Wickstead retro-inspired, floral-printed frock was a sweet way to start the day—even if this high-neck silhouette isn’t the most flattering one for Elisabeth.

Premiere: There would be no guessing who the designer was of this Oscar de la Renta Spring 2018 Bridal gown in its overt display of brand logo recognition. Thanks to the leather jacket and platform heels, my mind didn’t go to wedding. But, it did go to ‘Sex and the City’ meets ‘Grease,’ mostly because of the tulle poodle skirt. Chopard jewels completed the look.

UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital’s Kaleidoscope 5

The UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital’s Kaleidoscope 5 was held on Saturday (May 6) in Culver City, California, with a few notable looks on the red carpet.

Jaime King: We recently saw Jaime in a red Oscar de la Renta ensemble and she kept the glamour going strong in her next look from the designer. This floral-embellished frock had me thoroughly charmed, with styling that intensified its Spanish flair via red flamenco earrings and Jimmy Choo ‘Romy’ lace pumps.

Gwyneth Paltrow: I love the clean modernity of this two-piece Prada look that still dazzled with tonal sequins. Yet, I couldn’t get past how high the front slit seemed—it was one that was perhaps better worn at the side. Jimmy Choo ‘Minny’ black sandals completed the look.

Molly Sims: Like Jaime, Molly went for a blooming garden of flowers and lace in this Tadashi Shoji Pre-Fall 2017 ruffled gown. The interplay of colours was exquisite on her, even if it seemed rather heavy for spring.

Jaime King In Oscar de la Renta – 5th Annual Moms +SocialGood Event

Actress and activist Jaime King was at the 5th annual Moms + SocialGood event on Thursday (May 4) in New York City.

I was immediately drawn to the hot coral-red hue of this Oscar de la Renta Fall 2017 ensemble.

Despite the strength of the colour, the effect was moderated by the relaxed-chic aesthetic of the sweater and slim trousers.

Continuing the monochromatic mood, she styled the look with the largest, most sculptural pair of earrings I’ve seen in some time along with satin heels.

Deceptively simple in form, this look radiated with a dynamically elegant energy of its own.
