Anna Kendrick In J. Mendel – Art of Elysium Heaven Gala

Anna Kendrick In J Mendel - Art of Elysium Heaven Gala

Anna Kendrick added some vampish glamour to the Art of Elysium’s 7th annual Heaven Gala in Los Angeles, held at the Skirball Cultural Centre on Saturday night (January 11).

In a black J.Mendel Spring 2014 pleated dress with lace bolero- style shoulders and an on-trend cut-out detail, it’s great to see Anna move away from her tried and tested nude and blush looks, but this feels a little too structured.

The embellished clutch is a nice touch, but the Christian Loubotuin ‘Love me’ bow-front heels are a little too prim, I would have preferred to see this look styled with a high sandal.

While it’s refreshing for Anna wear something more daring, I’m just not convinced it works. I can’t help but feel it’s a little too structured especially with such formal hair. Some waves like was saw at the Z100’s Jingle Ball last year would have been so much better. Do you agree?

Michelle Obama In J. Mendel – TNT’s Christmas in Washington 2013

Michelle Obama In J Mendel - TNT’s Christmas in Washington 2013

The Obamas attended TNT’s Christmas in Washington 2013 hosted by Anna Kendrick at the National Building Museum on Sunday (December 15) in Washington, DC, where Sheryl Crow performed.

Perhaps not as often as Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, but Michelle Obama is also known to repeat her looks.

On this occasion, the First Lady wore the same J. Mendel Resort 2013 look we first saw her wear to the pre-Olympics reception prior to the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games back in July last year.

Her white tailored jacket with overlapped side panels and silver embroidery was paired with an ivory pleated skirt and styled with the same metallic-silver Manolo Blahnik pumps.

Anna Kendrick hosted TNT’s Christmas in Washington 2013 held at the National Building Museum on Sunday (December 15) in Washington, DC.

Donning her second look of the weekend, the actress wore a J. Mendel ivory panne-velvet strapless bustier column gown with a draped bodice.

In the right light this is a great look for her, complementing her milky complexion. The onstage light is more flattering than the backstage lighting.

Opting for neutral makeup and with her hair swept up into an updo, she styled the look with a host of jewels, including earrings by Yellowsmith, a wave palm cuff by Graziela Gems and crystal bangles by EF Collection, with a Swarovski clutch rounding out her look.

Kate Mara In J. Mendel – ‘Her’ LA Premiere

Kate Mara In J Mendel - 'Her' LA Premiere

Kate Mara joined her sister Rooney Mara on the red carpet on Thursday evening (December 12) for the ‘Her’ LA premiere held at the DGA Theatre in California.

While I’m surprised to see her rockin’ a new blonde ‘do, I’m not surprised to see her wearing a look with an above-the-knee hemline, as she loves to show off her toned pins.

Kate wore a summery J. Mendel Spring 2014 look consisting of a metallic leaf jacquard two-tiered sleeveless top and an ivory leaf-motif-embroidered tulle-crepe-back mini skirt which was lined from the runway.

Quite the yin to her sister’s yang, I’m sure you’ll agree.

A gold clutch and Charlotte Olympia platform heels rounded out her typically pretty look.

Who Wore J. Mendel Better…Amber Heard or Kerry Washington?

Who Wore J Mendel Better Amber Heard or Kerry Washington

Back in August Amber Heard wore a summery white J. Mendel dress featuring sheer inserts to the press conference for ‘Paranoia’.

She styled her pretty dress with just nude pumps and a simple ponytail.

Kerry Washington wore the same dress a few months later for PaleyFest’s ‘She’s Making Media’ panel held in her honour.

I wasn’t fond of the length of the frock on Kerry, nor of her choice of accessories, especially that Hunting Season clutch, so Amber wins for me.

Melonie Diaz In J. Mendel – ‘Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom’ Special New York Screening

Melonie Diaz In J Mendel - ‘Mandela Long Walk To Freedom’ Special New York ScreeningMelonie Diaz was also among the stars at the ‘Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom’ New York screening at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City on Monday night.

She took a monochromatic approach in a simply sophisticated J. Mendel dress paired with Jimmy Choo black pumps.

Even though the black-and-white, loose-fitting frock featured embossed embellishment, it still wasn’t enough to make me take notice.

Centre-parted locks and pale pink lip completed her ensemble.

Sure, she looked pretty and polished, but this look still left me wishing for the fashionable punch line.

‘Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom’ Special Screening Red Carpet Roundup

'Mandela Long Walk To Freedom' Special Screening Red Carpet Roundup

There were some models who took to the red carpet yesterday evening for the ‘Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom’ screening hosted by U2, Anna Wintour, and Bob and Harvey Weinstein with Burberry in New York City.

Anne V: Working a black-and-red look, the model wore a Versace Fall 2013 embossed sleeveless dress with black accessories in the same manner as Nieves Alvarez. I would’ve loved her to have worked either fierce smoky eyes or a bold lip colour with this look.

Chanel Iman: She did work a smoky eye with her pretty J. Mendel Resort 2014 seafoam silk-mousseline and satin-faced chiffon gown featuring geometric-cut pleating.

Sessilee Lopez: Turning to her go-to designer and friend Zac Posen, the pregnant model donned a Zac Posen pretty printed Spring 2014 gown with ruffled shoulders and a V-neckline.

Considering the star of the movie Naomie Harris didn’t wear a gown, did Chanel Iman and Sessilee Lopez overdress for this screening?
