Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Rooney Mara was another celebrity who attended the Dubai Cares and Oxfam ‘One Night Lives’ Charity Gala at the Armani Hotel in Dubai on Friday.

The ‘Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ actress often experiments on the red carpet, and this occasion was no different.

She wore a custom-made black sleeveless Calvin Klein sheer dress with a lacquered silk skirt, sculptural detail on the bust and a thick waistband.

While the look is definitely risky, Rooney pulled it off by keeping her hair tightly pulled back and pairing the dress with simple, strappy Givenchy heels.

The finished look was part dominatrix, part runway model — and full on fabulous.

Naomi Watts attended the special screening of ‘The Impossible’ at the Museum of Art and Design in New York City yesterday evening.

Dressed by the host of the night, Calvin Klein, she donned a nude dress from their Spring 2013 collection, which as we know is the most-worn Spring 2013 collection by celebrities so far.

Her strapless cocktail dress, featuring a sweetheart neckline, contrast black trim, and a semi-sheer lower panel, hits her just below the knee.

There are a few things putting me off this look: the indented right cup, the creases on the skirt, the jewellery, which makes the look overly fussy, and the hair, which I wish was sleeker.

Sporting a slick back dirty-blonde do, Rita Ora took to the red carpet for the Jingle Bell Ball hosted by Capital FM at the O2 Arena in London on Sunday evening.

The singer wore a Calvin Klein Resort 2013 that doesn’t appear to fit her style at all.

Had this citron dress featuring a split neck and bandeau been worn by Clare Danes, Jennifer Aniston (in black, obviously) or Zoe Saldana this would’ve worked, but on Rita, I don’t get it.

Factor in the new hairstyle, makeup too heavy for this summery hue dress and those hideous PVC booties and we possibly have Rita’s worst look to date.

Despite having a strong disagreement about one look during the week, we both decided on one winner for BDOTW – Naomi Watts.

Her Roland Mouret look incorporated all my favourite things: an electric-blue hue, a body skimming fit and a mermaid hem. What’s not to love?

When it came to menswear, our tastes differed.

Eddie Redmayne took a strong lead for his forest-green Burberry Prorsum velvet suit, which was both suave and festive.

I opted for John Krasinski’s Calvin Klein sleek grey suit with black lapels. Had the suit not had the black lapels, I’m not sure the look would’ve won me over.

Gerard Butler makes us swoon twice in one day – lucky us.

Prior to taking the red carpet for the ‘Playing for Keeps’ New York premiere, he was setting female hearts a flutter outside the ABC Times Square Studios prior to his guest appearance on ‘Good Morning’ America.

So maybe my theory that men tend to stick to one brand is flawed, because on this occasion Gerard wore a Calvin Klein suit.

The navy chintz wool one-button notch lapel suit, from the Fall 2012 collection, designed by Italo Zucchelli, the brands’ Men’s Creative Director, was styled with a light blue dress shirt, blue tie and black leather shoes from the same collection.

Many of you expressed that you loved his black-on-black red carpet look, so if you could put just one of his looks up for the menswear BDOTW, which one would you choose?

It’s a coin toss for me.

Thanks to John Krasinski, the day will not pass without at least one menswear post.

The actor looked incredibly handsome on the red carpet at the AMC Loews Lincoln Square 13 theatre in New York City last night for the ‘Promised Land’ premiere.

As you know, I’m still learning about menswear and what I am discovering is that men tend to be more inclined to stick to one favoured brand.

John’s brand of choice appears to be Calvin Klein.

He wore a grey two-button notched-lapel tuxedo with a black satin contrast, which for me adds a dapper touch to his look.

The tux was styled with a white dress shirt, a slim black tie and black shoes, all from the Calvin Klein Fall 2012 collection.

The only thing that would’ve bettered this look is his gorgeous wife on his arm.
