Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Shailene Woodley and Sean Penn posed onstage at ‘Trophee Chopard In Partnership With Variety Magazine’ at the Martinez Hotel yesterday evening during Cannes Film Festival.

I had this Jason Wu Fall 2012 gown on my wish list for Blake Lively, but instead it has been worn by the ‘Descendants’ actress.

I adore this black silk devore velvet gown with gold medallion embroidery on the shoulders, but I wish Shailene had worn her hair up so it didn’t have to compete with the shoulder details.

A metal waistband and black-and-gold strappy Jason Wu ‘The Egrette’ sandals from the same collection completed her look.

When Shailene Woodley stepped out for the Vanity Fair party, I wished she had modified her dress into a gown.

Well that is just what she did with this Christopher Kane Fall 2012 dress for Monday nights 2012 Met Gala, which goes from knee-length on the runway to full-length on the red carpet.

Her gunmetal chainmail dress with multi-coloured wire, floral embroidery and leather panel details is just the futuristic, youthful look that the actress needed during awards season.

Not one to add many accessories, Shailene completed her look with a sleek ponytail and diamond stud earrings.

Shailene Woodley appears on the cover of the June 2012 issue of ASOS magazine.

Known for her breakthrough performance in ‘The Descendants’ and her love for her red-carpet run during awards season, the actress looks like a typical teenager wearing an ASOS denim shirt with Rare lace hot pants, ASOS cat eye sunglasses and roller skates.

The rest of her editorial, shot by Jason Nocito, sees her wearing an on-trend pyjama look and a mesh midi dress, both by ASOS.

In her interview she shrugs off criticism about her Valentino Couture Oscars dress, she talks about not paying attention to fame and fortune and her love for dark film roles.

You can read the whole of Shailene’s interview over at ASOS magazine. Here are some extracts:

On criticism of her Valentino Couture Oscars dress: “A lot of people didn’t like it. They were like, ‘she’s 20, she’s covering herself up, why is she doing that?’ But to me it felt classy and elegant and that’s what I think of when I think of the Oscars. It felt simple and elegant and it still represented who I am. Most of my clothes come through friends – this cardigan is two years old and these jeans are my friend’s boyfriend’s.” Read more…

Shailene Woodley was one of the break-out stars of award season.

The ‘Descendants’ actress wore this Valentino Spring 2012 gown to the 2012 Directors Guild of America Awards in Hollywood back in January.

I love how her red crochet gown was made youthful with a strapless two-tone dress under the gown, which was see-through.

A side-swept braid completed her look.

Zhang Jingchu posed on the red carpet during the 6th Asian Film Awards in Hong Kong, China, last night wearing the same dress.

The Chinese actress wore a v-neck full-length black dress with her gown, which she accessorized with a gold clutch and gown jewels.

I have to go with Shailene.

Zhang Jingchu is stunning, BDOTW worthy in fact; but Shailene’s look is so much more fun with a hint of sexy.

Shailene Woodley also attended ‘The Hunger Games’ LA premiere yesterday evening.

I wanted to like this look, but then I realised I was only feeling that way because I liked her and not this Honor Fall 2012 maxi dress for this occasion.

Don’t get me wrong, this black floral short-sleeve dress is nice, but it’s not doing anything for her and it looks a few sizes too big.

Whilst I’m not expecting her to upstage the main star, it would be great to see her have fun with fashion like she did when she first came to our attention.

It seems like she’s already over this red carpet thing.
