Kerry Washington In Calvin Klein Collection – 7th Annual ESSENCE Black Women In Hollywood Luncheon

Kerry Washington In Calvin Klein Collection - 7th Annual ESSENCE Black Women In Hollywood Luncheon

Kerry Washington attended the 7th annual ESSENCE Black Women In Hollywood luncheon held at Beverly Hills Hotel on Thursday (February 27) in Beverly Hills, California.

We’ve had a lot to say about her maternity style, but the finally nailed it at this event wearing a flattering Calvin Klein Collection azure-blue, baby-bump concealing dress which draped off one-shoulder.

Keeping accessories to a minimum, she added an Emm Kuo ‘Guggenheim’ oyster shell, black resin and stingray minaudière clutch with blue lapis details to complement her frock; plus Jimmy Choo ‘Anouk’ black pumps and EF Collection diamond X ring.

Kerry Washington In Thakoon – NAACP Image Awards 2014

Kerry Washington in Thakoon - NAACP Image Awards 2014Kerry Washington’s red-carpet maternity style has been hit-or-miss, so I was eagerly anticipating what statement she’d bring to the NAACP Image Awards 2014, presented by TV One, on Saturday (February 22) at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, California.

The ‘Scandal’ actress wore a custom Thakoon royal-navy and peach, double-faced-silk gown to clothe her burgeoning baby bump.

The strapless, shawl-sleeve silhouette, coupled with the floor-scraping train, give this look its romantic, mod-fairytale appeal.

Not adding much in the way of accessories, she carried a matching blue envelope clutch by Prada and wore simple diamond studs, topping off the look with a Rapunzel-like, fishtail braid and peachy-pink lip.

If you recall, last year Kerry was dressed in a hyper-memorable Oscar de la Renta gown that stole many of our hearts. I’m not sure the same amount of favour will be laden on this high-sheen dress. But there’s no denying she’s positively glowing.

Kerry Washington In Oscar de la Renta – 2014 Directors Guild Of America Awards

Kerry Washington In Oscar de la Renta - 2014 Directors Guild Of America Awards

Kerry Washington attended the 66th Annual Directors Guild of America Awards held last night (January 25) at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, California.

Having failed to excite in Prada at the 2014 SAG Awards, Kerry chose a billowing Oscar de la Renta Spring 2014 white tulle daisy cotton guipure embroidered dress for the occasion.

The ultra-pretty trapeze dress which concealed Kerry’s bump was styled with a pair of killer PVC Christian Louboutin ‘Bollywood Boulevard’ heels with embellished detailing helped push this pretty dress into a more glamorous direction.

A simple Smythson ‘Soho Diary’ clutch, Martin Katz jewels and sleek tresses kept the look paired back and enabled the dress to become the stand-out of the night.

Kerry is really mixing thing up when it comes to red carpet dressing. Do you think she is leading the way in maternity dressing with her directional choices?

Kerry Washington In Prada – 2014 SAG Awards

Kerry Washington In Prada - 2014 SAG Awards

Kerry Washington made quite the attention-grabbing entrance at the 2014 SAG Awards, hosted at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California on Saturday (January 18).

No longer disguising her burgeoning baby bump—at all—the ‘Scandal’ star and nominee put on a custom Prada ensemble that was worlds away from standard maternity style.

Showing us that even expectant mothers can work the current cropped-top trend, she flaunted a fuchsia, silk gabardine elbow-sleeve, open-back top that glittered with hand-embroidered crystals, paillettes and tiny flowers.

The top was paired with a midnight-blue, high-waisted Mikado silk skirt with layered pleating detail, alongside lace-embellished Christian Louboutin ‘Pigalace’ pointy pumps.

Harry Winston jewels contributed even more sparkle, while the pop of a fuchsia and red silk Prada clutch added more colour. She topped off the look with a bouffant-style ’do and a simple headband, not to mention a matching pink lip.

This was a bold style move from Kerry, who was obviously having plenty of fun with fashion tonight. Did the risk pay off?

Kerry Washington In Tory Burch – Entertainment Weekly’s SAG Awards Nominees Party

Kerry Washington In Tory Burch - Entertainment Weekly's SAG Awards Nominees Party

Kerry Washington continued to showcase her chic maternity style at Entertainment Weekly’s celebration honoring the 2014 SAG Awards nominees, held at Chateau Marmont on Friday (January 17) in Los Angeles, California.

The ‘Scandal’ actress, who is nominated for an award this evening, wore a Tory Burch ‘Edna’ halter dress with bold graphic floral print – which defines this dress – along with a magenta House of Lavande statement necklace, fuchsia Kotur box clutch and multi-coloured python Christian Louboutin ‘So Kate’ pumps.

I’m sure you will agree that the beauty of this look is in the accessories, which is not to say that there is anything wrong with the flattering frock.

Golden Globes Hair Trend Spotting: Deep Side Parts

Golden Globes Hair Trend Spotting Deep Side Parts

While plenty of different beauty looks were seen on the red carpet at Sunday’s Golden Globe awards, there was one major trend we spotted on the stars: deep side parts. Whether the hair was left down or pulled into a ponytail or updo, the deep side part was definitely the look to have.

Sandra Bullock’s hair was given a deep side part before being pulled into a relaxed side ponytail, and Emma Watson’s hair was sleeked into a side part before being wrapped into a messy-but-chic chignon.

A deep part was the foundation of Cate Blanchett’s retro-inspired faux-bob, and Kerry Washington’s hair was given a side part before being coiffed into shiny, loose waves.

Other stars who wore the trend include Reese Witherspoon, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Margot Robbie, Kaley Cuoco and Sarah Paulson.

To get the look at home, use a rat tail comb to get a precise line. Then, if you want a voluminous final look, apply a soft hold mousse, like Oscar Blandi Hair Lift Mousse and for a sleek final ‘do, go for a shine serum like Alterna’s Caviar Anti-Aging Polishing Serum.

Kerry Washington In Balenciaga – 2014 Golden Globe Awards

Kerry Washington In Balenciaga - 2014 Golden Globe Awards

Kerry Washington was undeniably glowing—for more reason than one—on the red carpet at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards, hosted at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California on Sunday night (January 12).

The pregnant ‘Scandal’ star and best actress nominee showed off her baby bump, which she called ‘her little accessory,’ in a custom Balenciaga pale green celadon gown, accented with an embellished brooch at the bodice.

Fitted, but not overly clingy with a near peplum-like draped detail, this was a classic way to show off her new curves—we’d expect nothing less from Kerry.

Fred Leighton jewels, including chandelier earrings, along with simple, side-parted loose waves, a soft smokey eye and glossy nude lip, all paired nicely with the subtle radiance here.

The white Balenciaga minaudière clutch and Casadei sandals, on the other hand, felt a bit too stark for my taste.

Who Wore J. Mendel Better…Amber Heard or Kerry Washington?

Who Wore J Mendel Better Amber Heard or Kerry Washington

Back in August Amber Heard wore a summery white J. Mendel dress featuring sheer inserts to the press conference for ‘Paranoia’.

She styled her pretty dress with just nude pumps and a simple ponytail.

Kerry Washington wore the same dress a few months later for PaleyFest’s ‘She’s Making Media’ panel held in her honour.

I wasn’t fond of the length of the frock on Kerry, nor of her choice of accessories, especially that Hunting Season clutch, so Amber wins for me.
