Karolina Kurkova In Haney & Zac Posen – IWC Booth & Gala Dinner

Karolina Kurkova In Haney & Zac Posen - IWC Booth & Gala Dinner

Karolina Kurkova joined Adriana Lima and Emily Blunt in Geneva, Switzerland, for the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) 2015 at the Palexpo on Tuesday (January 20) as an ambassador of IWC.

IWC Booth: Bringing some 20s glamour to the occasion, the model looked stunning wearing a Haney ‘Valerie’ beaded tulle dress styled with Christian Louboutin ‘Pensamoi’ pumps and Eva Fehren jewelry for a touch more colour and sparkle. For me the shoes enhance rather than overwhelm the look.

IWC Gala Dinner: Later that same evening she walked the red carpet with a very dapper-looking Dev Patel, who wore a sharply tailored navy suit. A gown like this needs no introduction because from the fit, style and construction this is clearly a Zac Posen piece. Her grey bustier-style gown from the Fall 2014 collection featuring folded drape detail at the bust, a sculpted peplum and dramatic structured blinder detail at the skirt, which acts like a shark-fin, is stunning, but a more dramatic hue like navy, black or plum would’ve had a greater impact.

Karolina Kurkova In Roland Mouret – PAMM Art of the Party Event

Karolina Kurkova In Roland Mouret - PAMM Art of the Party Event

Karolina Kurkova attended the Perez Art Musem (PAMM) Art of the Party event on Saturday (January 17) in Miami, Florida.

The supermodel, who was voted Best Dressed Model of the Year, kick-starts 2015 on fine form wearing a red and black Roland Mouret Spring 2015 sleeveless frock.

Enhanced with a flattering V neckline, this timeless cut featuring a criss-cross bodice and fringed appliqués was styled with black accessories for upscale sophistication.

Blown-out tresses and a glossy lip provided the finishing touches.

Model of the Year 2014 – Karolina Kurkova

Model of the Year 2014 – Karolina Kurkova

Karolina Kurkova has strutted her way to the top, clenching the Model of the Year 2014. The Czech model and former Victoria’s Secret Angel commands attention at every turn, hardly ever disappointing on the red carpet.

The compelling thing about Karolina is that she dresses to a uniquely powerful and sultry beat, flaunting her statuesque supermodel proportions in designer exits that most could never dream of pulling off.

Yet she also dresses with modest sophistication, not falling into the model trap of ubiquitous, skin-is-in, overtly sexy looks. She evidently agrees that just because you can wear it, doesn’t mean you should.

While the supermodel often goes for highly structured, architectural pieces, and her fair share of more mannish moments, she just as easily can work more delicate, feminine dresses like her recent Valentino outing in a floral-and-lace frock punctuated by shades of pink.

My favourite look from her had to be the impossibly amazing drama of her sculpted Marchesa teal-blue, floral-print gown at the Met Gala. It was a work of art.

Get The Look: Karolina Kurkova’s Valentino Sala Bianca 945 Braided Bun

Celebrity hairstylist Jennifer Yepez worked with Karolina Kurkova for the Valentino Sala Bianca 945 Event on Wednesday (December 10) in New York City.

Explaining her beauty inspiration, Jennifer said, “Karolina’s Valentino dress was beautiful and romantic so we wanted the hair to be modern and strong. We felt a centre part with sleek shine would work best. We also wanted something special in the back so I created a beautiful braided bun.”

Here’s how to get the look.

Jennifer began by spraying PHYTO Phytovolume Actif Volumizer Spray section by section and blew the hair dry using a Mason Pearson brush. She made sure to spray from roots to ends in order to get a better grip on the ponytail and to make the hair thicker for the braid.

Once the hair was dry, she created the centre part. She used the Mason Pearson to smooth the hair and make the ponytail, securing it with an elastic hook. Once secured, she sprayed Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray throughout the ponytail to give it volume and a bit of texture.

Next she braided the ponytail and secured it with a small elastic band. She carefully shaped the braid to Karolina’s head and used small hair pins (matching her hair colour) to pin it in place. She sprayed a bit of Kerastase Laque Couture Hairspray to tame flyaways. She also used a tail comb on the back of the braid to tuck in any loose ends and a small teasing brush (a toothbrush works well, too) to smooth the front of the hair.

The look was finished with Kerastase Touche Finale for extra shine, and she was carpet-ready.

Valentino New York Sala Bianca 945 Event

Valentino New York Sala Bianca 945 Event

Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli hosted their first Valentino Haute Couture show in New York City on Wednesday (December 10).

The one-off special show, which was an homage to the designer’s famous 1968 white collection, was in celebration of Valentino’s Fifth Avenue flagship store, attracting many celebrity guests who are all big fans of the brand.

Emma Roberts: The young actress instantly caught my eye in her uber-sweet Valentino sugary pink frock with flared cuffs and a multicoloured floral collar. While I love the contrasting mauve Valentino clutch, the Valentino taupe pumps don’t work for me.

Padma Lakshmi: The TV host never fails to provide a jaw-dropping moment, this time wearing a super-sweet Valentino orange-hued mini dress amped up with a pair of sexy black over-the-knee boots.

Karolina Kurkova: I was charmed by the statuesque beauty, who was serving up lace and colourful florals. Her bold, intricate look was enhanced with red pumps, which matched her glossy lips, and a hot-pink clutch. She can do no wrong.
