‘Hotel Artemis’ LA Premiere

The ‘Hotel Artemis’ premiere on Saturday (May 19) in Westwood, California was a monochromatic affair with many celebrities favoring black and white.

Sofia Boutella: The cloud-like ethereal beauty of the skirt in her Giambattista Valli Fall 2017 Haute Couture look was contrasted with the inky sparkle of the bodice. The black shoes help tie everything in, as does the black underskirt which is just visible from this angle.

Jenny Slate: The funny lady graced the red carpet in a romantic Rebecca Vallance gown. Some might get a bridal sentiment from the look, but her styling helped downplay the notion.

Portia de Rossi In ADEAM – Netflix’s ‘Arrested Development’ Season 5 Premiere

Portia de Rossi continue promoting season 5 of ‘Arrested Development’ at the premiere held at the Netflix FYSee Theater on Thursday (May 17) in Los Angeles, California.

“It’s May, it’s a sunny day, so you know what? Let’s go for a velvet dress”.

This is a weird summer trend which we noticed last year, and it looks like that trend continues in 2018 with Portia opting for this ADEAM Fall 2018 layered bustier dress.

Opting to wear the dress off the shoulder to make it her own, my mind immediately started flashing up images of Allison Janney’s Bibhu Mohapatra BAFTAs gown.

They aren’t the same, but something in the velvet and sleeves triggered a mild comparison.

Bryce Dallas Howard In Johanna Ortiz – ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ Madrid Premiere

Bryce Dallas Howard attended the ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ (Jurassic World: El Reino Caido) premiere on Monday (May 21) in Madrid, Spain.

The actress is known for her preference of dark hues and simplicity, which is why this Johanna Ortiz ruffled dress was such a surprising option, however, I applaud this statement-making summer style which was perfect for her big blockbuster promo tour.

What strikes me the most is how the fiery cinnamon and cayenne pepper hues were electrifying with her strawberry blonde hair, but if I was to nitpick, I would say the dress feels about one size too big; which is most noticeable on the top half.

Nonetheless I love the look for the change of direction, and effortless femininity with a sense of playfulness.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

The men have been showcasing their style credentials as much as the ladies this week.

Khalid: Taking a casual preppy approach, the New Artist Billboard Award winner wore Fendi to the ceremony on Sunday (May 20). The burnt orange colour typically has an autumnal feel but it suits his colouring and is kept fresh with the white trainers and hoodie.

Donald Glover: Further demonstrating his mastery of vintage-inspired looks, he was outfitted in Bottega Veneta Spring 2018 with Christian Louboutin ‘Dandelion’ loafers for the ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ London photocall on Friday (May 18), joining Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Emilia Clarke. The shoes cleverly echo the warm tone in the top.

Darren Criss: The former ‘Glee’ actor was suited and booted in Dior Homme at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday (May 20). The footwear adds some edge, but it’s all about the eye-popping effect of that blue collar.

‘The Man Who Killed Don Quixote’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere & Closing Ceremony Red Carpet Roundup

Lovely ladies joined Khadja Nin, Cate BlanchettKristen Stewart and Olga Kurylenko at ‘The Man Who Killed Don Quixote’ premiere and Cannes Film Festival closing ceremony on Saturday (May 19).

Léa Seydoux: Going for a bold, glittering finish, the French actress was outfitted in a Louis Vuitton dress and shoes. There have been some critics of the designer of late, but I’m hoping this shimmering, sensual silver style will go down favorably.

Ava DuVernay: The director oozed sophistication in a custom Stella McCartney gown. This rich maroon is divine with her complexion and the sweeping shoulder detail has such refined elegance.

Khadja Nin In Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture – ‘The Man Who Killed Don Quixote’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere & Closing Ceremony

Khadja Nin was a beauty in blue at ‘The Man Who Killed Don Quixote’ premiere and Cannes Film Festival closing ceremony on Saturday (May 19). She joined Cate BlanchettKristen Stewart and Olga Kurylenko.

The Burundian singer has delighted with her vivacious looks at the festival and this Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2018 Haute Couture gown was no exception.

No superfluous details were necessary with the rich blue and the diaphanous draping. It’s a lesson in how a pared-back look can sometimes resonate the most.

Cate Blanchett In Alexander McQueen – ‘The Man Who Killed Don Quixote’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere & Closing Ceremony

Saving the best for last, Cate Blanchett stepped out at ‘The Man Who Killed Don Quixote’ premiere and Cannes Film Festival closing ceremony on Saturday (May 19), joining Kristen Stewart and Olga Kurylenko.

The president of the jury brought such drama with her Alexander McQueen Fall 2018 ensemble with Chopard jewels.

Seamlessly bringing together impeccably sharp tailoring with alluring liquid draping, it was unlike anything we had seen before and had such a mind-blowing effect.

When she turned around, the draped bow back was just as magnificent, creating the impression of wings.

For those who were fed up with the on slot of sheer, heavily embellished styles, this hopefully delighted.
