Menswear Midweek Round Up

Menswear Midweek Round Up

Chris Hemsworth: For the 50th Anniversary Wool Awards in Sydney on Tuesday, the Australian actor sported an Ermenegildo Zegna light-grey three-piece suit with notch lapels. He paired the well-cut suit with a white shirt, a matching patterned tie, and black leather boots. I prefer this finished look to his usual unbuttoned-shirt look.

Matthew McConaughey: After stepping out in a wildly perfect Vivienne Westwood MAN suit for the ‘Mud’ screening, Matthew returned to his usual brand in a Dolce & Gabbana classic black suit from the sartorial collection for an appearance on the ‘Late Show with David Letterman’. His conservative notch-lapel suit was finished off with a white shirt and black lace-up shoes. I liked the multicoloured suit more, but this was the perfect casual look for a late show.

Brad Goreski: Opting for a loud red carpet look, Bravo’s Brad Goreski wore a Ferragamo yellow double-breasted suit from the Spring 2013 collection for the 24th GLAAD Media Awards in LA on Saturday. It’s incredibly bright and features just one set of buttons, making it even more difficult to pull off. Brad is zany enough for it, but I don’t think it fit as well as it could have. It did go well with the light-blue tab-collar shirt and the green-and-yellow tie, though.

Olivia Palermo & Johannes Huebl In Louis Vuitton – Louis Vuitton Maison Munich Opening

Olivia Palermo & Johannes Huebl In Louis Vuitton - Louis Vuitton Maison Munich Opening

Olivia Palermo and her model-boyfriend, Johannes Huebl, were ever the trendsetting couple at the Louis Vuitton Maison opening in Munich, Germany on Tuesday.

Naturally, they both wore LV for the occasion, although their looks didn’t exactly coordinate.

Olivia paraded out a dropped-waist, tunic from the Resort 2013 collection with Zara shoes, which she wore without the pencil skirt seen on the runway.

The ‘dress,’ as we’ll call it, certainly suffered no lack of details, what with its mix of puzzle-like patterns, embellished pockets, and an exaggerated Peter Pan collar. So, I’m glad this petite PYT left the massively chunky platforms on the model and opted to pull her hair back into a simple updo.

Johannes was a dark, albeit handsome, counterpoint to Olivia’s lighter look, with his double-breasted suit, royal blue tie and pocket square.

You may remember that Chris Pine recently wore a similar Louis Vuitton suit, except in a grey colour, which earned him a Best Dressed of the Week nod. Do you like Johannes’ version as well?

‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Sydney Premiere

"Star Trek Into Darkness" Australian Premiere - Arrivals

Karl Urban, Chris Pine, director J. J. Abrams and Zachary Quinto were back out promoting their latest movie, ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’, with the Sydney premiere in Australia this evening.

Karl Urban: Going from dark-grey to midnight-blue, the actor still looked very smart, adding a tie to his look on this occasion.

Chris Pine: The handsome actor wore another Ermenegildo Zegna suit. This time, he wore a grey striped notched-lapel suit styled with a Band of Outsiders striped tie and tan Ralph Lauren shoes. The suit fits to perfection and brings out his blue eyes – what more can a girl ask for?

J. J. Abrams: The director scrubbed up rather nicely, going from a plaid shirt and jeans to a very smart black suit, which he styled with a grey shirt and striped tie.

Zachary Quinto: The actor loves keeping things interesting and this occasion was no different. He wore a sharp shawl-collar Margiela suit, which he jazzed up with a blue polka-dot shirt and burgundy Calvin Klein bow tie. Matching his Calvin Klein shoes to his bow tie was a nice touch. I already can’t wait to see what he serves up next.

With all this eye-candy and sharp dressing, I don’t find myself missing Zoe Saldana from this promo tourr.

Chris Pine In Ermenegildo Zegna – ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Sydney Photocall

"Star Trek Into Darkness" - Portraits

Karl Urban, Chris Pine, J. J. Abrams and Zachary Quinto attended the ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ photocall in Sydney, Australia on Tuesday.

Karl Urban: On a gloriously beautiful day, I wish the New Zealander had opted for a lighter-coloured suit.

Chris Pine: In a sea of navy and grey, Chris stands out for me here in his blue notched-lapel two-button Ermenegildo Zegna suit, styled with a white dress shirt and blue silk pocket square. I’m thankful that he opted to wear tan shoes on this occasion.

J.J. Abrams: The director/producer sported a semi-casual look featuring jeans, a plaid shirt and grey blazer.

Zachary Quinto: On such a warm, sunny day, I’m not sure the actor really needed the sweater.

James Franco In Gucci – ‘The Director’ Tribeca Film Festival Premiere

James Franco In Gucci - 'The Director' Tribeca Film Festival Premiere

James Franco attended the world premiere of his latest movie, ‘The Director’, during the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival in New York City on Monday evening.

You won’t be surprised to see the actor wearing a suit by his favourite designer, Frida Giannini for Gucci.

His blue striped peaked-lapel two-button suit was styled with a white dress shirt and silk navy tie.

The pants maybe needed to be an inch shorter, but this is a slick look nonetheless.

Matthew McConaughey In Vivienne Westwood MAN – ‘Mud’ New York Screening

Matthew McConaughey In Vivienne Westwood MAN - 'Mud' New York Screening

Matthew McConaughey attended a screening of his movie ‘Mud’ held at The Museum of Modern Art in New York City on Sunday.

The actor, who made a lot of changes to his physical appearance for this role, made a pretty drastic change to his red carpet look.

Known for wearing Dolce & Gabbana pretty exclusively during his career, the actor opted for a Vivienne Westwood MAN suit on this occasion.

Not just any suit: a navy-and-burgundy plaid suit featuring a notched-lapel blazer with an attached button-front vest and a logo-engraved-button-accented chain closure.

You may remember that Nick Cannon wore a similar-style suit recently.

I love this new look for Matthew. He has done the Italian sleek suit for so long that I appreciate him adding some British eccentricity to his red carpet look.

Do you?
