Red Carpet Fashion Awards

There is perhaps no contemporary star who quite represents the modern woman the way Mila Kunis does. Which is why I find it amazing and appropriate that she should find herself as the face of the new Miss Dior Bag Fall/Winter 2012 campaign.

Lensed by Vogue favourite Mario Sorrenti, Kunis appears in a series of photographs and a video inspired by 1950s Hollywood glamour. Although a thoroughly modern icon, Kunis looks timeless and elegant in the black and white shots.

Her large hair bow, dark makeup, and sky-high heels capture both an innocence and high fashion aesthetic that is extremely compelling.

In fact, Dior describes the photographs as, “The very essence of the House of Dior.”

Quite a compliment indeed.

I have been eagerly awaiting the Alexander McQueen Fall 2012 ad campaign which was finally released yesterday.

David Sims captured Finnish model Suvi Kopoen sporting the same platinum blonde coif that the models showcased when they took to the runway back in March.

Between the futuristic origami set design, the metallic visor, the exaggerated shapes and heel-less shoes, Suvi looks like a beautiful creature from outer space.

Mila Kunis takes over from Natalie Portman as the face of Christian Dior.

The ‘Black Swan’ star fronts the Spring 2012 ad campaign which is set to debut worldwide this month.

Though she admits to being new to the fashion game, and having an off-duty wardrobe that consists mostly of tees and jeans, Mila tells WWD.com that she’s excited to glam up her look in Dior.

“I find that Dior is an incredibly grounded house. I always thought what Dior does is so sophisticated, feminine and beautiful.”

On their part, Dior is just as pleased to be working with Mila. Delphine Arnault, deputy general manager at Dior, tells WWD, “Mila Kunis is a very talented young actress; she embodies the true modern woman. Her performance in ‘Black Swan’ was remarkable. She is very gifted.” She also goes on to say that the brand is looking forward to having a long relationship with the actress.

I’m sure you are as excited as I am to see Mila step on the red carpet as the official face of Dior. Read more…

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have introduced their first jewelry collection.

Using the most exquisite materials – tri-colour gold, rubies, sapphires and pearls – they created an 80-piece range of extravagant jewels that are subtle and understated but always rooted in the font of one of the designers’ main sources of inspiration: Sicily.

There are the beautifully fashioned hand-engraved keys, coins, hearts, hexes, and horseshoes that jangle on the rich gold of charm bracelets and necklaces, or dangle alone from a ring as a pendant.

Also, a representation of the designers’ soul: jewelled crosses, black jade rosaries and delicate filigree ceramic icons held by precious Byzantine inspiration chains.

Bianca Balti, who also appears in the Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2012 ad campaign alongside Monica Bellucci, stars in the seductive Dolce & Gabbana Jewellery campaign which was shot by Giampaolo Sgura.

You can see more of the collection on Dolce & Gabbana Jewellery. See more from the ad campaign below. Read more…
