Juliette Lewis In Vivienne Westwood Gold Label – 2014 SAG Awards

Juliette Lewis In Vivienne Westwood Gold Label - 2014 SAG Awards

Juliette Lewis joined a host of other stars at the 2014 SAG Awards, held on Saturday evening (January 18) at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.

The ‘August: Osage County’ actress has lately been on a red-carpet roll, winning us over with her fashion selections. Tonight, she hit a slight snag in a Vivienne Westwood Gold Label gown.

The petrol-blue silk design, featuring a draped neckline and mock bustle back, was printed in an array of multicolour flowers. She paired the dress with pink and green gemstone drop earrings, a gold geometric box clutch and Bionda Castana metallic heels.

While I appreciate her willingness to take risks and wear a bold hue and print, I just couldn’t get on board with this look. Her styling didn’t increase my affection, either, as her hair looked like it was straight out of a period drama.

Was this a misstep for you, as well?

Maybe just blue without the print could have been great. The color is amazing and i love the silhouette

Me too, this is refreshing. But don’t like the hair at ALL

Oh no! She was doing so well… The dress could have worked but it doesn’t fit. It’s baggy and saggy and too long. And her hair is just awful.

This! So sad! She was having an impeccable run…

+2. The dress is too big

+3. :( It’s too bad, because I really like her brand of quirk, but this is just not working.

    She’s dressed as a drape.

The hair looks like a George Washington wig, the makeup is a bit too “shellaced” and something not so settle is happening with the face.

    An all around loss.

      Agreed

i actually really like this! reminds me almost of lucy liu’s blue carolina herrera last year at the GGs…not sure about the hair (it’s too cartoon-y) but i think the colour w print and the silhouette is gorgeous

the print is lovely but the fit is off. too bad cause this could have been major.

  6. Alina January 19, 2014 at 05:37 #

Well, I like it. I don’t love it, as I have come to expect from her, but I think this is different and beautiful.

I absolutely love this dress, just not so much on her. I really want to see someone do it justice. It’s too big for her, and she doesn’t fill it out in all the places it needs.

Couldn’t have put it better. The hair doesn’t help either because it’s just not her style and she doesn’t look too comfortable herself.

I would love to see this on Christina Hendricks. Filling out the dress more, not quite so long. Red shoulder length wavy hair. Pretty pink makeup, nude heels…

    • EmmaWoodhouse January 20, 2014 at 18:59 #

+3 It’s a beautiful dress imo. The hair, her pose, and her figure aren’t working with it though.

I will say that i saw a different photo of this and absolutely loved it – this is not the best shot of it

She’s actually one of my fav’s at this event. I love the print. The hair might be a bit much but my biggest problem is her barely there makeup. Better makeup would’ve upped this look.

I don’t mind the look, she was one of the attendees that stood out the most to me. I like that she went for the print on a red carpet awash with block colour chiffon gowns… and I think it suits her persona.

I LOVE this dress! The print and colour is FAB! Shame about the hair-this is what lets it down unfortunately but the dress is beautiful!

  12. Nat January 19, 2014 at 11:05 #

love the color + silhouette!!! agree with most that the hair + makeup is what lets it down.

  13. Yeliz January 19, 2014 at 11:17 #

I’m disappointed. Her red carpet looks were amazing lately, whereas this one is a big miss in my eyes. I hope this was an exception.

  14. Noemi January 19, 2014 at 13:15 #

I like the dress itself but not her. Beside the bad styling, most of all the awful hair, she looks out of proportions.

  15. Jess2 January 19, 2014 at 14:03 #

Definitely a slight snag, not her best look.

  16. kane January 19, 2014 at 15:08 #

The cut does remind me a bit of draped curtains, but I do like the print and it’s a bit of a stand-out between some bland looks. I like.

  17. lenje January 19, 2014 at 15:13 #

I LOVE this dress, I think it looks fabulous on her! I don’t mind the hairstyle, I think it’s quite fitting!

  18. Camille January 19, 2014 at 15:53 #

the dress is too big on her, the print is too matronly, the makeup blah, and the hair is historical. She isn’t being true to herself and it shows.

  19. Kathy January 20, 2014 at 02:50 #

I love the design of the dress, but her execution here is terrible. The hair is giving off a Princess Leia vibe (at first glance I thought she had two buns on either side of her head) and the fit is pretty bad. The draping across the shoulders makes them look SO wide.

    • gabis January 20, 2014 at 17:08 #

I agree. It also made her look tiny, much shorter than she is. It’s a shame because the dress is beautiful and her makeup perfectly complements the look. Had the dress been adjusted and with a different hairstyle she’d probably be among the best dressed.
