Marion Cotillard In Christian Dior – ELLE’s 20th Annual Women In Hollywood Celebration

Marion Cotillard In Christian Dior - ELLE’s 20th Annual Women In Hollywood Celebration

Marion Cotillard attended ELLE’s 20th Annual Women In Hollywood Celebration held at the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles in Beverly Hills, California yesterday evening.

When I saw the French actress in this Christian Dior Spring 2014 dress, my reaction was, “so close”. That’s because she selected Look 50, when I had Look 59 earmarked for her on my wish list.

Marion’s strapless silver jacquard floral-embroidered dress with a houndstooth emblem, nipped-in waist and cocoon back, was styled with tri-colour Dior sandals with a sculptured heel.

I’m not a fan of either the silhouette of the dress or the matronly hairdo. I want to be wowed by Marion like I was with Charlize Theron last week, but this doesn’t excite me.

There is absolutely nothing I like about this look which is a shame. I hope she tries again with look 59!

  2. Iva October 22, 2013 at 09:39 #

I find this look very boring, even though it shouldn’t be.
Marion – please try something else on the RC!

    • Nat October 22, 2013 at 15:03 #

I agree. Bland and boring. Dior does nothing to her figure.

  3. kane October 22, 2013 at 09:42 #

That’s one human disco ball. Oh, Marion !

  4. Alex October 22, 2013 at 09:43 #

Look 59 would have been sensational. The shape of this dress and the length don’t work, in my opinion. Marion is beautiful and can do so much better.

    • Christine October 22, 2013 at 13:02 #

      Agreed. Only like the shoes.

  5. leeann October 22, 2013 at 09:44 #

These dresses were stunning in the show but they need movement . Without movement this dress looks block like . I was so excited when isaw this picture but that wasshortlived when I saw how unflattering it photographed. Does look a tad brig and long for her

I totally agree, more often then not Dior does not translate well off the runway. I do find the fabric enticing but the silhouette to baggy and the length odd for her petite frame.

      • Roosje October 22, 2013 at 12:44 #

I agree, it should have been shortened. If it hit her knee like it does on the model this would have looked so much better. As it is, its completely stumpifying and makes her appear much wider as well. Such a shame as I like the fabric and the idea.

really? i love this look on her. and i don’t think she looks matronly at all. i think it is way more fashion-forward, especially with those structured shoes. she can do no wrong in my eyes.

  7. Yeliz October 22, 2013 at 10:05 #

The dress looks nice from the front, but the silhouette from the back is terrible. And the shoes don’t do her look any favours. Not a fan of the hairstyle either. Thumbs down.

      +1

I had many hopes for Marion Cotillard’s style and look but from the moment she became the face of Dior, every public appearance of her is disappointing to me…

    • Prudence October 23, 2013 at 00:35 #

I partially agree. When John was designing she and all other Dior spokesmodels had incredible RC moments. It’s Raf that’s not working. His clothes do not work off runway.

  9. Anne October 22, 2013 at 12:57 #

This is very reminiscent of a deflated mylar balloon. I’m missing skirt’s the structure from the runway.

    • KatieKate October 22, 2013 at 23:33 #

Oh, you’re right. So disappointing! When I read, ‘Marion Cotillard in Dior’, I have great expectations, but this just dashed them all. She so should’ve worn look 59! That would have been heaven!

    • Dhppy October 23, 2013 at 18:14 #

Ha! When I looked at it, I thought, “she looks like she’s jumped into someone’s mylar party balloon”. We are in agreement.

  10. dee October 22, 2013 at 13:30 #

The dress is OK, I just don’t like the shoes or hairstyle.

  11. Lashae October 22, 2013 at 14:01 #

This looks terrible on her. Also the hair and shoes don’t do her any favor either. This probably would look better if it was shorter and not so big.

  12. amy October 22, 2013 at 16:06 #

    so boring I’m falling asleep

  13. glenn October 22, 2013 at 16:18 #

    Chistian Dior “Piñata” Dress, awful!!!

  14. Marko_M October 22, 2013 at 17:15 #

Lovely and super chic! She wears Dior better than anyone else.

  15. Lauren October 22, 2013 at 17:27 #

I love how the comments are always so varied, but this is awful

  16. anonymous as always October 22, 2013 at 18:51 #

She kind of look like a sparkly patato sack from the behind but I think she pulls it off more than anyone else would. The colour pallete is great on her though!

  17. Nat39 October 22, 2013 at 20:57 #

This just looks all wrong for her.

  18. Daisy October 22, 2013 at 22:36 #

Her face looks incredibly beautiful. Not sure about the hair and the dress is just horribly voluminous

  19. Ash October 23, 2013 at 01:09 #

don’t like the dress, and I feel that something’s missing about her makeup…

  20. missy October 23, 2013 at 05:33 #

Charlize was able “wow” because she wasn’t in Dior. Dior has been dated and done for awhile now.

    • Markness October 23, 2013 at 09:54 #

Charlize hasn’t been wearing a lot of Dior lately. The last Dior I can remember was of her in the Snow White and the Huntsman premiere. Maybe Marion needs to try other designers too. Raf Simons for Dior has been getting a bit repetitive but I guess it’s part of a plan to instill the new Dior look away from how John envisioned Dior to be.

      • Lashae October 23, 2013 at 15:47 #

She wore Dior to the Oscar this year.

  21. Dhppy October 23, 2013 at 18:15 #

I don’t like the dress on the model or Cotillard. But then again, I don’t think I liked a single thing from Dior’s collection this season.

  22. Leo October 24, 2013 at 17:26 #

It’s a mix between a trash bag and a disco ball.

  23. EmmaWoodhouse October 25, 2013 at 14:57 #

The beautiful material is totally underserved by the awful silhouette. It’s sitting too low and is SO unflattering. Hair is awful too. Not a fan of the shoes here either.
