Michelle Obama In Prabal Gurung – 2013 Arthur Ashe Kids Day

Michelle Obama In Prabal Gurung - 2013 Arthur Ashe Kids Day

Michelle Obama attended the 2013 Arthur Ashe Kids Day held at USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on Saturday in Queens, New York ahead of the US Open which starts on Monday.

The First Lady used the event to promote active lifestyles and eating healthy meals for kids, as part of a national campaign she’s leading.

As we are having such bad weather this side of the pond, Michelle’s summery look lifts my mood.

She turned to one of her favourite designers Prabal Gurung; selecting a yellow, navy, light-grey and white tropical print sleeveless peplum top from the designers Resort 2013 collection.

Wide-leg pants, comfortable silver flats and hooped earrings completed her look.

She looks lovely. Fantastic look and she struck the right note for an event that might have been otherwise a bit tricky to dress for: an informal/formal sporting event targeting children.

She looked smart, fun, stylish, comfortable and impeccably put together. She also promoted a young designer in the process. As far as I’m concerned, she got it right. She’s fab.

The top is pretty but she should never wear white or any light colours on her bottom half – not flattering

The pants could be better, but they’re not terrible. The top is adorable, but the print is awfully reminiscent of pot leaves. Errrrooopps.

Looks Like Someone Was Really Inspired By The Color & Print Motifs At The Givenchy F/W 2011 Collection. Tad Bit Reminiscent, Don’t You Think?

“Yet for any young designer making his or her way in the world, there’s also the question of coherence of vision to be attended to. Balanced against the understandable optimism stimulated by his growing market, what Gurung still has to learn is the discipline of editing and self-interrogation. At his stage of the game, with the world’s knowing eyes upon him, anything which shows the influence of other designers should hit the cutting room floor (an indebtedness to Riccardo Tisci was inescapable this season).” As Written By Vogue
