Jennifer Lawrence In Christian Dior – 2013 Met Gala

Jennifer Lawrence In Christian Dior - 2013 Met Gala

Jennifer Lawrence looked like a vintage dream in Christian Dior on the Met Gala red carpet.

I honestly think the new face of Dior looks flawless top to bottom here, but it does make me chuckle just a little that she wore this to a punk-themed event.

The strapless, jewel-encrusted Dior gown is classically glamorous, and the black birdcage veil takes its elegance to another level.

Jennifer’s flawless porcelain skin, deep red lip and black-lined eyes are the perfect classic makeup for this timeless look.

What do you think?

She looks very beautiful and elegant, but there is really nothing punk about this look. I would’ve loved this more, had she wore it to a different event.

    • admmgz May 8, 2013 at 19:32 #

      +1

  2. jrich May 7, 2013 at 05:10 #

Uma Thurman! I want to know what you think!

  3. Kate May 7, 2013 at 05:10 #

I know I *should* like it because there’s nothing particularly offensive about it. But I don’t really care for it, in light of the truly great looks I’ve seen tonight.
It’s a bit too “prom” for my taste.

  4. Stephanie May 7, 2013 at 05:12 #

It would have been perfect if not for the shoes :(

    • Mandy May 7, 2013 at 10:09 #

The shoes are too chunky for my tastes. I don’t know she does look nice, but im feeling her slip back into her boring/predictable phase.

      • Jess2 May 7, 2013 at 11:27 #

I agree ladies, the shoes aren’t a good choice. The dress, hair and makeup is beautiful but familiar and certainly not punk.

        • Lee Ann May 7, 2013 at 12:31 #

I agree but maybe she chose them to give the look a less lady like and more punk (dior version) ?

  5. Sammy C May 7, 2013 at 05:15 #

    Yes Jennifer, yes.

  6. TL May 7, 2013 at 05:21 #

Nothing punk, but she looks great

  7. Christine May 7, 2013 at 05:25 #

Ok look but this is nothing special.

  8. Lyo May 7, 2013 at 05:25 #

Erm… I’ll say it again… Very pretty, very ladylike, and kudos for the attempted punk, close but no cigar.
Maybe a little shorter, with better shoes, and an edgy bracelet.

  9. Sanette May 7, 2013 at 05:27 #

I feel like it’s just one of many of her Dior dresses she’s worn recently. Nothing really memorable about it. I like the veil and the makeup though.

  10. Joy May 7, 2013 at 05:28 #

This is gorgeous and I love everything about it! However, I can’t help but think of Marion when I see this look. All I can think is that this tall blonde girl is imitating brunette, petite Marion’s style. Lovely look, but unfortunately that’s what I see.

    • Ariadne May 7, 2013 at 07:51 #

      Agree with everything you said.

  11. jas May 7, 2013 at 05:43 #

    she is absolutely flawless

  12. Milla B. May 7, 2013 at 05:49 #

Surprise, Surprise. A ladylike-strapless-black dress. Thank you Raf. Thank you Dior. I wasn’t expecting anything like this. :(

  13. Prudence May 7, 2013 at 05:55 #

THIS IS A FAVORITE OF YOURS????!!! FC, I AM MIND BOGGLED!!! She is at the wrong event…no punk at all??? this cannot be a fave !!!! I am bored to death by this look… if at least she looked good non punk…this girl and dior need to break up.

    • Catherine Kallon May 7, 2013 at 06:23 #

I did not write this post…

      • Prudence May 7, 2013 at 18:06 #

what I’m confused?? someone else is posting for you now?

        • Kathy May 7, 2013 at 18:44 #

Emily, Rachel, and FC were taking turns blogging through the event I believe

  14. Tori May 7, 2013 at 06:02 #

Love it! Although I can’t help but think of Emma Stone at the Sags last year:

    • e May 7, 2013 at 10:35 #

Thank you for pointing that out! I was sure I had a strong case of déjà-vu with this dress.
      She looks pretty though.

    • Nat May 7, 2013 at 13:51 #

That is what I thought too.

    • Kate May 7, 2013 at 17:41 #

Great catch! I knew the whole look felt really familiar.
I think look suits Emma more, though.

  15. Brazilian fan May 7, 2013 at 06:06 #

She is absolute beautiful, but as aways I have a little problem with dior girls, except Charlize theron, because all the girls wering the same look over and over again, please, she is beautiful but,as someone say before that dress is a little prom to me

  16. Natalie May 7, 2013 at 06:21 #

Very pretty but it’s rather boring and lazy.

  17. Aline May 7, 2013 at 06:48 #

Boring. Emma Stone did it better with an Alexander Mcqueen dress. Also, the veil gives too much of a funeral vibe. Ugh.

  18. Ioana May 7, 2013 at 08:08 #

I was expecting worse from Jennifer-Christian Dior combo.

This is acceptable. I think the make up and the veil take it to another level.

    • noo May 7, 2013 at 08:40 #

I agree. Personally I think dior does nothing special with her, and would rather see her wear calvin klein. but this time she kept with the proper make up and wore a nice dress so she looks nice!

  19. Gabby M May 7, 2013 at 08:35 #

IDK. this just confuses me… so no.

  20. Charlotte May 7, 2013 at 08:41 #

    Beautiful but event unappropriate.

  21. Jai May 7, 2013 at 08:45 #

This is completely wrong for the event. But anyone forced to wear Dior to this was going to have that problem. Still, they could have worked with the dress maybe. But a veil and that ladylike red pout and hair? Ugh. Frankly, I hate it.

  22. Emme May 7, 2013 at 09:03 #

Her shoes was too heavy, but overall she gorgeous

  23. Jimmy May 7, 2013 at 10:12 #

I think she looks beautiful and I love her look but it is totally wrong for this event this year. The Gala had the strongest theme ever and her look is simply wrong.

  24. Rashmi May 7, 2013 at 11:34 #

The veil and the make up is only what I liked here, everything else screamed BORING!

  25. Amy May 7, 2013 at 11:55 #

honestly I love Jlaw but this is just underwhelming. So boring!

  26. Atiyya May 7, 2013 at 11:59 #

I LOVE the dress. The shoes are driving me bonkers because they make her look like a kid wearing a dress that she’s outgrown.

C’mon. with Dior at your disposal you can do FAR better than this.

  27. Marko_M May 7, 2013 at 13:12 #

This could (and should) have been so much more amazing. The only thing I love is the mini-veil, everything else is quite forgettable.

  28. cristina May 7, 2013 at 13:20 #

dont get me wrong. jennifer looks good. but how can this be your favorite when its not appropriate for the event? there’s nothing punk in this. just saying.

  29. fromchi-town May 7, 2013 at 14:13 #

She looks amazing … no doubt about that, but looks like she is at the wrong event. And the dress looks like something we have seen on her before, there is nothing new and exciting.

  30. dee May 7, 2013 at 14:17 #

She looks lovely but not memorable.

    • Cascia May 7, 2013 at 21:19 #

      ITA

  31. Solveig May 7, 2013 at 14:21 #

I love her, but for some reason I don’t love this.

  32. EmmaWoodhouse May 7, 2013 at 14:47 #

It definitely reminds me of Emma Stone’s Alexander McQueen SAG look…I think that that had a better length and shoe combo. I’m not hugely pleased with Jen’s shoes, but the dress is lovely and I really like the veil. It’s a very good look! So ladylike and yet a bit edgy too.

  33. deango May 7, 2013 at 14:57 #

The dress is look 18 of the Fall 2013 runway

  34. Moxie May 7, 2013 at 15:34 #

Very 50s gothic, not punk. She looks beautiful, but the veil might be OTT.

  35. tom May 7, 2013 at 16:44 #

total yawn… i know she’s the face of dior…but i’m so done with the same silouette and neckline on almost everything she wears.

  36. ADarlingOfIndustry May 7, 2013 at 16:50 #

SNOOOOOZE!!!!!!!!!!! This look is a total a bore!

  37. Bee May 7, 2013 at 17:18 #

Pretty, but I’m loathe to give her anymore praise because she totally missed the night’s theme, though she’s in good, sizable company.

  38. Kathy May 7, 2013 at 18:46 #

She looks like she just stepped out of a Dior ad. This is very beautiful and put-together, but it’s not occasion-appropriate at all. Even disregarding the punk theme, it’s a bit of a head-scratcher. I have a easier time imagining this as a premiere or film festival look.

  39. diana May 7, 2013 at 18:53 #

best dressed of the night by far!!

  40. Liz May 7, 2013 at 19:15 #

Really?! This is your favorite FC?? You clearly are not familiar with punk either. It’s very boring and not at all on theme. The only non-boring thing about it is the veil.

    • Catherine Kallon May 7, 2013 at 21:06 #

      • Liz May 8, 2013 at 00:47 #

Okay. Now that makes sense. Lol

  41. Melrose May 7, 2013 at 20:40 #

    Boring & lazy.

It’s like she’s going to the SAG Awards.

  42. Betelgeuze May 7, 2013 at 21:52 #

Two things – a brown lipstick and a true punk studded bangle. That would make the look perfect. This way it’s just a sad prom queen.

  43. sammy May 7, 2013 at 22:11 #

    Gorgeous gown….wrong event

  44. Cris May 7, 2013 at 22:19 #

she looked like she was attending a funeral.

  45. Angela May 8, 2013 at 03:27 #

The veil doesn’t add much to this look.
Without the veil, the look would’ve been boring, overly conservative, and event-inappropriate. with it the look is still boring and conservative with the added bonus of looking slightly gothic
Love the makeup though, although a more dramatic cat eye would’ve helped.

Polished and retro elegance but a bit boring and out of whack with the theme. However,I do love the veil and make-up and the gif of her photobombing SJP made me laugh.

  48. Sabreena May 9, 2013 at 07:17 #

She looks good but boring. There is nothing punk about it.Btw,this is from the Christian Dior Fall 2013 RTW…the first piece to be worn from this collection if I aint wrong?
