Ashley Greene In Marchesa – 2013 Met Gala

Ashley Greene In Marchesa - 2013 Met Gala

Despite being surprised by Ashley Greene’s choice of designer at the 2013 Met Gala on Monday night, I thought her look perfectly suited the punk mood.

Upon seeing Ashley’s name on the attendees list, I was expecting a so-so blush gown.

However, even though she strode on the side of something very feminine, her Marchesa Fall 2013 voluminous, black and gold-embroidered gown was styled with vampy makeup, a slightly messy updo and a dark nail polish.

Her gown was kept in focus with Harry Winston earrings and a clutch added to the mix.

Although her look does suit to the theme, this is one ugly gown. On the runway it looked OK, but I can’t like it at all on Ashley. I’m disappointed, she looked much better in her Donna Karan gown last year.

Agree. She is so overwhelmed by this dress.

Wow, this looks TERRIBLE on her. It makes her look so wide. Ashley needs to figure out her own style rather than relying on designers to give it to her.

Girl. this is not your dress.

  4. vicky May 7, 2013 at 07:13 #

    Overwelmed by the dress.

i guess baroque is in, but bold gold patterns on black will always seem tacky to me

First thought was that this reminded me of Blair’s Marchesa prom dress in Gossip Girl!

I preferred the gown on the model.

      + 1

The length, the silhouette were so much better on the model.

      Ashley looks BIG.

+2, terribly unflattering on Ashley. Such a shame, I would have preferred a blush gown.

      + whatever number lol
Jourdan looks like she has a waist whereas Ashley just looks boxy.

She looks like a dusty old relic of a broken chair from the times when they fought with swords and crossbows. That’s not a good thing.

the problem is with her short, athletic frame she drowns in this gown, her donna karan gowns from the previous 2 years were far better suited to her.

i wasn’t surprised that she changed up designers this year though – with no contractual obligatations with DKNY, she was free to do whatever she wanted – even though this was a bit of a miss

Ah…I didn’t know it was up

    This gown is awful.

Beautiful gown and beautiful girl that’s it, where is the drama???

  13. JJovana3 May 7, 2013 at 14:35 #

Oh look. That Marchesa gown is wearing Ashley Greene.

  14. Jo May 7, 2013 at 15:04 #

How on earth can someone so slim look so wide?!

  15. kane May 7, 2013 at 15:11 #

Just for the record I absolutely LOVE it on the model.

  16. Moxie May 7, 2013 at 15:19 #

This dress is completely overwhelming her. She looks much wider than she actually is.

I find it funny that she’s standing next to someone who is also wearing a black taffeta ballgown. Anyway, the dress doesn’t flatter Ashley as much as it should, but I actually really like it. It’s very punk/rocker bride, I think. It’s fun that she tried something different.

  18. GGG May 7, 2013 at 17:35 #

This is awful. The dress is wearing her, not the other way around. And the styling is ghastly… I think the Marchesa ladies are overrated and have taste issues.

the dress is gorgeous, love it! she looks amazing, hope to see her net year.

  20. Parvati May 8, 2013 at 01:27 #

What surprises me is that this gown looks so much better on the runway. On the runway, it appears to have a waist cinching effect, while on Ashley, it makes her look really wide and boxy.

  21. Angela May 8, 2013 at 04:42 #

The dress so desperately wanted to attend that it brought Ashley instead of the other way around. She looks overpowered and boxy.

  22. WTF May 8, 2013 at 19:56 #

She looks wide, boxy, and miserable. I hate everything about this look: the dress, the hair, even the makeup.

Forgot about ASh! She killed this too!!! This was one of the best dressed Met Gala’s I must say
